Q: Confused by the reviews. Do you have to use the app for this thing to work? Can I use it without an app and just it store video locally on a Micro SD?

You do need the app to make some of the configuration setting like video loop time. There is a remote button that comes with the camera that you can control it with so technically you don't need the app to use it once it's been setup and configured.

Q: Do you hear a lot of wind noise ?

Yes, I certainly do. I love the product overall but the mic is almost useless at higher speeds.
