Perfect large non stick casserole
Ive been meaning to replace our old damaged casserole .This one is cast Aluminium which makes it quite tough and good at keeping the heat.At 5 Litres capacity Its huge, I can get a whole chiken in and all the veg to go with it.The lid has little bumps all over the inside which work as a passive baster allowing the condensed liquids to drip back into the food.I really like that it has a special stainless steel base so can be used on induction or pretty much anythign else. You cant use it in the microwave of course.I decided to make chilli in it last night. That involves frying some onion to begin and it handled it perfectly well.USually the old casserole gets some stuck bits of onion which burn, so I was keen to see if this one with its non stick inner and thick material would avoid that. The non stick coating is flecked grey like the inside of some ovens and is over the entire inner surface. It worked really well to avoid the usual sticky culprits/.I used the hob and gave the meal 25 minutes and it came out perfect. No stuck bits at all.The coating works very very well. The meal in the photo is for 4 people so it looks like it would hold a good 8 servings .I tried how it fits in our combi oven and it does go in with about a 2 inch or so of space for the rack to sit under it.One advantage over the old heavy casserole we had is that it heats quickly. If I had bought it in the shop, I would have gone for a smaller capacity as this one is quite a bit larger than our largest hob ring but it is a very good size if we are using it in the oven for a whole meal in one go as we will be doing most often so that is something to think about.A bonus for us is that the lid perfectly fits our biggest frying pan.In summary, this is a very decent casserole. The whole thing is sturdy and looks like something a serious cook would use.

Looks wonderful, and yet because it’s aluminium, it’s really light- very good indeed!
I’d been looking at these for some time, wondering whether they were too good to be true. Well, they aren’t, they really are that good. The lookThey look just like a cast iron ‘Le Creuset’ dish, and that’s a complement, because if it were, it would be many, many pounds more costly. And many, many pounds heavier as well! The weightBecause it’s made of cast aluminium, instead of iron, it holds the heat just like cast iron, but it’s much lighter. It’s a big casserole dish, this one, (you can buy different sizes, and mine is 5l, so it can actually hold a whole medium chicken with the vegetables), so the light weight surprises everyone who picks it up- it’s actually quite funny to watch them tense for the assumed weight, expecting cast iron, and then almost hurl it upwards, because it’s so much lighter than they expect! (Here in the Peak District, you take your amusement where you can get it!!)The constructionIt has a stainless steel base, so you can use it on an induction hob, and it can also be used in the oven, or transferred from hob to oven (or for that matter, of course, from oven to table).Mine is a lovely cream colour with a perfect finish, that really looks the part, whilst both dish and lid have non-scratch coatings of unspecified origin (instructions on how to keep this coating fresh, safe, and scratch free are in the dish on purchase). The inside of the lid is covered in small bumps to help the moisture to condense, fall back into the dish, and keep the contents moist for longer as they cook.Recommended?Definitely. Check that the size is right for your intended use and it’s wonderful. And although it isn’t cheap, in the world of high end cookware, it isn’t expensive either. It’s a very good product indeed!

Still nervous about cooking with aluminium
This is a gorgeous looking pot and looks like a top of the range Le Crueset pot. Being made from aluminium, I was a little nervous about cooking becoming contaminated. This pot is coated with a reinforced, non-stick, ant scratch interior (of an unspecified material). The pot has a stainless steel base, suitable for all hobs, including induction and a self basting lid - meaning it doesn't collect water droplets on the inside. It's well-made and the lid fits well. There are instructions on how not to scratch or damage the coating on the inside. Being a big pot, it will be used sparingly, but I am still nervous about the aluminium content and there is nothing in the packaging to reassure me.

Extremely light!
I am impressed by how light it is. Of course, it is not iron cast, which makes all the difference in the world but food comes out as it is!It looks gorgeous and is an excellent addition to my cooking wear.5Lt the one I got has enough room to cook for a family of 4 either casserole dishes or for the oven.It can be in the oven up to 200c and be careful as all parts are getting really hot. Not plastic handles or lid.Can be washed in a dishwasher but is so light and nonstick, so I wouldn't recommend it as much as to retain the aluminum intact and give it a long life.It is so lightweight that I would highly recommend it for people who aren't that strong and still wish they could use a casserole.I of course recommend it to everyone, but I am so impressed with its lightweight and its properties.

VERY LIGHTWEIGHT. NOT A BAD POT ATT ALL.
This pot is light to carry. It is both oven and hob safe. A 5L capacity is ideal for two people (one of which has a hearty appetite). It also comes nicely packaged and thus could make a nice gift.
