At carefresh we're devoted to small mammals, their human parents and the environment we all share. We've developed a recipe specially formulated for the nutritional needs of each small animal that feature a healthy blend of real fruits and vegetables like you'd find in a farmer's garden. That's how our products are made for small mammals. We could just use seeds, food color and fake shapes, but then we wouldn't be carefresh. Crafted to encourage their instinctual foraging behavior, our Farmer's Garden recipe features 10 real fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots, spinach and peas. Combined with nutritious crunchy pellets, it's guaranteed to deliver complete nutrition and dental health, naturally. Unlike other brands, we never use any decorative pieces that look like cheese puffs, o's or clovers. That's because we believe all small animals deserve only the best nutrition, nothing else - so they can live a long, healthy life. Our healthy blend of real fruits and vegetables means we never have to use any artificial colors or flavors to attract attention - making carefresh complete the perfect food and healthy treat, all in one.

My hamster emptied out his bowl the first few days ...
My hamster emptied out his bowl the first few days I had him and fed this to him. But after a week with him, I'm starting to notice that he's hardly touching the pellets, if not at all.The mix of "real fruits and vegetables" is hard to find in this bag. I see mostly corn, but then again, there's not much of it. This bag is mostly pellets and since he's hardly touching those, I'm looking to mix it with Supreme Petfoods Tiny Friends Farm Hazel Hamster Food, 2 lb , which I recently purchased (and should be coming in today). I'll edit my review and report back when it comes in.And since a lot of people seem to ask here are a list of nutritional facts and ingredients list as listed on the packaging (also see pics attached):NUTRITIONAL FACTSProtein (Min): 17.0%Fat (Min: 3.5%Fiber (Min): 5.0%Fiber (Max): 10%INGREDIENTS: Wheat Middlings, Dehulled Soybean Meal, Ground Corn, Alfalfa Meal, Whole Peas, Whole Corn, Soy Hulls, Ground Wheat, Molasses, Calcium Cabonate, Vegetable Oil, Flax Seed, Apple Chunks Dehydrated, Banana Chunks Dehydrated, Carrot Chunks Dehydrated, Sweet Potato Dehydrated, Papaya Dehydrated, Soybean Oil, Lignin Sulfonate, Salt, Zucchini Dehydrated, Cranberry Dehydrated, Celery Flakes Dehydrated, Manganese Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement, Selenium Yeast, Ferrous Sulfate, Niacin, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Choline Chloride, Sodium Selenite, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Folic Acid, Calcium Iodate, Rice Bran, Cobalt Sulfate, Monocalcium Phosphate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Yeast Culture, Proprionic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Diatomaceous Earth, L-Lysine Monohydrochloride, DL-Methionine, Dried Yucca Schidigera Powder.

Size alone gets a 5 star review!
Love the size of this bag with only one pet rat that is a baby I was happy to get this size of bag. Most of the food for small pocket pets come in huge bags and they would last forever with only one. I am not so sure I would want a bag that would last a long time because I would be concerned with the freshness and safety on the food, with this one I don't think I have to worry about it. I am pretty sure that it will be eaten up before it is no longer fresh. Size of this bag alone wins a 5 star rating from me. I would definitely recommend this food if you only have one or two small pocket pets and you don't want a large bag to worry about.

Not bad but would recommend mixing
This is a safe hamster food according to Hamster Hideout but it is pretty bland for the hamsters. My robo Dwarf hamsters did not eat the pellets but my Syrian did (but my Syrian eats almost everything...). I mixed this with three other types of food for my hamsters. I would recommend the same to everyone else because it's too bland on its own and there are a lot of fillers in it (pellets) that most of the hamsters wont eat. Other then that, everything is safe in this for them and has enough nutrition to get by.

All four rodent babies love it
Let me start with the fact that I have a picky hamster who loves seeds and will not eat pellets but when I tried this from my local pet store on a whim she loved it. I love the fact that there is not seeds as extras just some peas and corn really. I have been using this for over a year now and since then we got two gerbils (they are not picky) and a very fat hamster (it helped her slim down I think). I will definitely continue using this instead of other brands such as Kaytee (I did have trouble with in the past) as my food purchase choice.

MUST be mixed with another food mix, only recommended if your specific hamster likes the pellets.
Before anything, THIS MUST BE MIXED WITH ANOTHER BRAND OF FOOD MIX. I mixed it with Vitakraft Vitasmart and Mazuri Rat & Mouse blocks. However, only my Syrian barely liked it. She didn't mind the pellet, she actually liked it but she mostly left the green dried pea like stuff behind. She still however ends up eating it when it's the only thing left in her bowl of course (so she won't starve). For my Dwarf hamster, she hated this food, especially the pellets (which is 90% of this food mix). She would only eat the other food from the other mixes. Overall, this food mix is a great price (2 pound bag under $3 is such a steal) especially for how much protien and nutitiual value it has. But the variety is terrible. I could only recommend this food is that if your hamster actually like the pellets.

My hamster did NOT like this food
My hamster did NOT like this food. There aren't a lot of seeds in it compared to other types; there are LOTS of pellets and he wouldn't eat them. He kept taking the food out of the dish and hiding it so that I'd give him more...... of something else. After changing back to my old brand he is happy and shovels seeds into his face like it's Thanksgiving.

Nut free!
To be honest, there isn't a lot of nut free, & made in a nut free facility, hamster food. My youngest son is allergic & nuts are a huge no-no in my house. The hamsters seem to enjoy it, this is our second one & she likes it.

Picture wasn't accurate.
The food was not what was shown in the product's picture. It contains large pellets better suited for a guinea pig, as opposed to the tiny pellets depicted in the image. The bag contains only three types of food (the fruits and vegetable pieces), not including the pellets.
