Worked Great!
This bait really works for carpenter ants! I fear these little pests because they can do so much structural damage to your home. There are different varieties of these ants and are often mistaken for fire ants. I found a trail of them along the side of my house and cedar fence. I could not see where they were coming from nor where they were going. I was afraid they would enter the weep holes of my bricks. I tried the liquid spray from the big box store nearby which worked when sprayed directly on the ants. They also avoided sprayed areas until the next rain would wash the poison away and they were right back to their business. Following the directions on the container, I sprinkled the ADVANCE poison and watched the carpenter ants go nuts for the stuff! They immediately grabbed the granules - it even seemed as if they were fighting to get them - and began carrying them away. The next day - no ants! I was amazed. I also put some on a fire ant mound, and unfortunately, it did not kill them. The bait was gone the next day but the fire ants were still very much alive and active. I'm not worried about the fire ants - they're a nuisance but my Ortho Max works fine on them - it was the carpenter ants that had my concern. This did the trick and will now be a standard part of my arsenal.

Kills Carpenter Ants - Household, PA
This treatment actually worked. Once I was able to find how the ants were entering my house (see picture), I place the bait/killer next to it. The ants were all over it! Over several days, they actually took the small piles away and I added more each night. After about 3-4 days, I noticed that the activity decreased. Today, I am finding dead ants in some rooms. Not many of them, but I am thinking that it's from the bait/killer. The instructions say that it takes about 24 hours before it starts to work. Maybe it did, but it took a few days for me to see the actual results as it went through their hive (I hope). I will continue to place the bait/killer until the piles go untouched and no ants are detected. I am impressed with the results. I've been fighting these guys for a few years and even tried outdoor treatments. The key was finding their entry. If you find it, try this bait/killer. Good luck!

Might have worked
I sprinkled this in 3 areas where carpenter ants were coming out of walls. I watched quite a bit to see if ants would pick granules up and take back to nest. I never saw ants take any interest in granules. After a couple of weeks I reapplied granules. As the days went on there were less and less ants. Maybe they finally started eating the granules. It has been a couple months now since I have seen a carpenter ant. So maybe they got hungry and started eating this when I wasn't looking. Four stars because I never saw them pick up a piece.

IT WORKS!
Had a bad ant problem! We thought they were carpenter ants, and tried two other products before this one. The others had carpenter listed, and were a bit cheaper, so we tried them. Ok… can I just say, bite the bullet and give this a go!? IT WORKS! That’s what matters!! The ants went nuts for this stuff and carried it all off! They were still busy the next day so I sprinkled a little more, and they grabbed all that too. Next day - no ants! 😳 We found some in another location, and did the same thing.. two days in a row, and sure enough no more ants! Hallelujah! Was so grateful for a product that actually worked!

Day 1
I have high hopes for this product. Nothing has been staving off these carpenter ants. Some have been coming into my home and i just can not have that. Today is day one. They are carrying it off but to where? I don't have any Idea.. once they pick up the granual, it's like they become stupid and forget which way home is. Fingers crossed this works. Mehama, Oregon

Joy in a can! OK, it's a bottle, whatever. ;-)
Amazing stuff! Sprinkle it around the house and in a couple days, no more ants...anywhere! The effects are virtually over-night with the stragglers being knocked out over the next 24 hours. As mentioned in other reviews, there's nothing more satisfying that watching the little buggers happily carrying the bits back to mama. (Did I mention I HATE carpenter ants?) I use it whenever I see more than one ant around the outside of the house; on the deck or porch climbing a wall, whatever. That evening the granules go down and that's that. The entomology of ants is both amazing and disgusting but a must read to understand them...and then how to better dispatch them! Do a search. Oh, but if you have pets - be smart where you put this stuff. It has a slightly fishy smell that attracts dogs and cats. I put it where they can't get at it but where ants can.

The ants aren't interested.
Our carpenter ants are entirely uninterested in this "bait". Advion gel, however, they cannot get enough of that stuff. Year after year it is effective...until the next Spring. I am concerned the colonies may evolve a tolerance for the Advion, which is why I purchased this product, to alternate which poison we use each year. But if the ants don't see it as food, it won't work.
