The size Small in the Swimmates Disposable Adult Swim Diaper will fit between 80-125 pounds or 22"-36" in the waist. The size Medium will fit between 120-175 pounds or 34"-48" in the waist. The Small Swimmates fit a person with a waist size of 22" up to 36" They don't measure by the weight of the individual. If your 6 year has a waist size of 22" these will work. If he/she has a smaller waist size then 22" you'll need to search in a small child's section.
