will this Battery charger/tender charge a dead battery or just maintain an already charged one?

Accepted Answer

Depends on the battery. If it is a large battery (ex. 110ah), then it will only maintain. If the battery is smaller (ex. 20ah), then the charger will charger it and maintain it. In regards to charging up a dead battery, again it depends on the battery and what the voltage is on the battery using a voltmeter. can a vehicle be periodically started with the minder hooked up to the battery and plugged into AC power ???

You probably could but why would you want to?  Because the BatteryMinder has some pretty sensitive electronics to monitor the battery charge level and temperature, I would not recommend leaving it attached to the battery when you start the vehical... at least I wouldn't do that.

Question 3

not sure what this product is for is it only for reviving and desulfarating or is it also good for keeping a bettery afload for long peiods of time?

I have had batteries in sporadically/ rarely used vehicles and machines maintained with this brand of trickle charger regularly last 10, 12 years and longer, way beyond their projected 3-4 year life times.  I almost believe batteries last indefinitely, as long as they are on this little charger.  Can't recall one ever becoming unusable as long as they're on the charger continuously.  Use them religiously on boat, 4 x 4's, truck, all batteries I have that work only occasionally.  This thing has not let me down; quite the opposite.  Great product, pays for itself over and over.  Only caveat is, if power goes out and stays out unexpectedly, the little LED green light remains on and will slowly drain the battery over a long period of time.  So as long as the charger is hooked up, it MUST have a stable, uninterrupted power supply.  Also, if battery is too weak before first use, it won't help.  Best for maintenance of decent battery, not restoration of one already bad.  There is a critical voltage below which these chargers will not work.  Hope this helps.

My last batteryminder came with the quick disconnect plug/cable that is permanently attached to the battery, is it included in the pkg?  thanks.

Yes, the quick disconnect is part of the charger and it comes with two attachments one with cable clamps and one with oring connectors for a permant type connection just like the picture.
