Winter Warmth
Unfortunately it is becoming super cold outside and we recently have a neighborhood kitten just have babies šā¦ I have no clue whose it is in our neighborhood unless it was a drop off. She has came up to me one time and hides out under my daughterās broken down car⦠I would have gotten her that day but seen she was definitely breastfeeding, and she has to be a small kitten herself⦠So Iām hoping to get her comfortable to bring her kittens out so I could catch them all, or maybe her lead me to them soon. I put food there the first night and it was gone with only remnants remaining. I only hope itās her, but in the country we have possums, raccoons, skunks, bears, and even a mountain lion that lives in our unused shed from time to time. So fingers crossed! Now onto the little cathouse itself⦠A lot of reviewers were talking about the Velcro so I was kind of hesitant, but you couldnāt beat it for the price and something fast that I needed until I could provide better. Some things I noticed (as seen in pics) no matter how I tried to redo the roof of the house with the Velcro, there was always small holes here or there because it wasnāt lining up perfectly (probably user error for all I know). Not a deal breaker for me at all. Once the Velcro is secure, it is definitely secure!! Itās pretty hard to pull apart, so that was a plus. I put a small towel in there, and went out the next morning (there was frost out still) and was surprised that it wasnāt wet, and when I stuck my hand inside, it was actually quite warm/cozy (assuming for a cat with fur). Regardless of the small holes that were left ontop, the roof overlaps over the house itself, as it is waterproof (as they say), so I donāt really see that being too much of an issue either. I did put the house ontop of a plastic liner that goes inside of a dog crate. The directions does state to place it ontop of something and not directly on the ground to ensure no moisture seeps in, etc. I didnāt use the 2 spikes they send with it to keep it from flying away. Instead, I just used 2 tires to put on the sides of it that way it will keep it stable as well. I put a puppy pad ontop (kinda silly I know) until I bought a new tarp to protect it a little more⦠I will be taking that off though because cats are very intelligent and sheās probably not using it due to something flappy she sees ontop. I doubt the tarp will even work but Iām hoping so I can try to provide the best home possible. The house is a little small (as seen in picture with a regular size dog retractable leash), but itās a small kitty and Iām sure her kittens will also be nice and cozy if she would just bring them in there⦠If something were to jump onto of the house, itās going to all cave in. Thereās no cardboard or anything hard in it. Itās just feels like a thick foam from every angle⦠The house is super light, a toddler could toss it in the air and easily catch it⦠Absolutely no smell⦠Appearance wise, I didnāt care about looks. The more it blended in with the woods and nature (minus the puppy pad š«£) that was my goal. The camo is a great desired look. It also was super easy to unfold and put together (minus lining the Velcro as stated above but again that is probably just user error). On the instructions page as well, they do have an additional product you can purchase (obviously sold separately) and itās like a little heating pad floor that is used from their own body heat, regulating the mat. Just another additional optionā¦The only thing I wished it did have, was another side exit because cats also donāt like to be enclosed but I knew purchasing it, it did not have this and again, it was a cheap, simple, and easy fix for the meantime⦠For now, itās just a learning curve for me. I hope any of this will help someone whose looking and it the same boat I was!All in all, I was quite happy with the purchase. Iām hoping it will be durable to at least last during winter. I plan to purchase another soon or have my husband build one if I can talk him into it. His theory is if we donāt house or feed them, they will go away. š¤ā¦ In reality, it just means we are about to have a whole colony of cats soon roaming around, if we canāt catch them. If it were up to me, Iād keep them all! Husbands, smh⦠š

Beyond expectations!
This amazing little wet/cold weather outdoor shelter of a cat house is incredible. I have a few strays I'm worried about who don't have a forever home to feel safe and warm when it's cold, damp & rainy. It extremely durable and as long as it's secured with the two pins into the ground, it's not going anywhere in spite of strong winds on occasion. I added a Styrofoam sheet underneath to allow for better ventilation and drying; a layer between the ground and the bottom of the cat shelter itself. I use the bottom interior pad that comes with the cat house as a bottom layer, then add a self-warming cat blanket that is large enough to fold over once, on top of that to minimize cold/wet bottom laye experience. In the folded self warming blanket, I insert a microwavable heating pad that I heat up every night before I go to bed. That allows for the cat to feel the warmth but rest upon a fuzzy blanket layer without getting too hot from the heating pad. The microwavable heating pad keeps the cat house and blankets dry on the inside even when it rains for days/weeks. and The material that the house is made of, dries very quickly when given a day or two of a break when it rains for days or even weeks on end. The inside of the cat house remains dry still. Super impressed with he quality and so grateful for whomever created this cat shelter at such an affordable price. I don't have pictures to olive it's been used but I can tell and as such, launder the self heating blanket about 1 x week to keep it fresh and clean. And super easy to out together.

Durable, our outdoor cats love it
I'm really happy with this purchase. It is durable, the material wicks away rain and snow (althoughours is in a garage) and the insulated lining keeps the inside warm. It was easy to assemble, Velcro holds the top on. I like that it insulates body heat vs using a heating element.

Not Waterproof
I bought this shelter because it shows protection from the rain. A cat in my neighborhood is always in my yard, but I know she was (or is?) someone's pet because she's very friendly. I think she's semi abandoned because I always see her under cars when it rains and I have never seen her at "home". I bought this to give her a place to shelter from rain and within hours it was soaked, even on the inside. The material is like a polyester and somewhat water resistant, but the only real water proofing is a thin plastic sheet that covers the roof with clips (like bobby pins). I think I used some of the package plastic to cover an additional side but when there is wind blowing the rain, all three other sides including the entrance are exposed to water, and whatever is caught by the plastic drips onto the very edges of the roof into the fabric and eventually down the sides. It doesn't help that I didn't put any sort of platform underneath but I don't think that would solve the problem. The area it was placed is even under a roof where my front door is, but over time the water splashes or blows into the entrance. Later moved it on top of gravel in my yard to see if a surface with more drainage might help but it doesn't have a roof like my house entrance so just made it worse.Aside from lack of waterproofing it was very easy to assemble and holds together with a pretty good velcro. It comes with stakes so you can hold it in the ground. It has layers of insulation. If you are buying for a different reason they run smaller than I thought, I widened the hole because the cat is very fat, but I suggest going a size bigger than you need. I didn't love the clips or plastic, I think the plastic could've been thicker so the wind doesn't flap it and cause the clips to fall off.
