Q: Will this work for any other action camera?

You can mount any GoPro, VIRB or any action camera ever made with the GoPro mount or 3 & 2. Also, the top is 1/4"-20 standard tripod thread, so it is universal. It will work with any action camera, usb powered.

Q: With the go plugged in to the usb port,is the gopro still waterproof?

The GoPro is not waterproof if you have external power plugged in, BUT you can make it rainproof with Silicone Rainproof Putty by YOLOtek. This wraps around the power cord going into the GoPro and into the PowerStick-53" and if it rains or you get spray off the water, your gear is protected.
