Yale keypad deadbolt works as described
I bought this lock even though it doesn't have any newer bells and whistles. It is a couple of steps above the mechanical lock that you have to operate using a key. That is good enough for me primarily due to the deep discount on these locks right now.Lock was new, even though the package was open, and the batteries were removed. Apparently, they were so old that the batteries started leaking within the packaging. That is probably the reason for the deep discount. My previous keypad deadbolt only had an actuator to engage/disengage the deadbolt. So, you will have to physically turn the knob. Because of that design, the 9V battery lasted a very long time. In this Yale lock, there is no knob to turn; it will extend and withdraw the deadbolt. I am not sure how long the AA batteries last if they have to perform the deadbolt operation.Installation was fairly easy. It looks good. We are happy with the product and we would recommend it.

Great lock for price.
This is a great replacement lock if your z wave lock is getting old and tarnish,, just pull your Z wave module from old lock and you are good to go..This lock comes with a at&t wave module in it..My at&t system was changed to Brink in the sellout... this lock works great...I added another one of these to my garage door and it programed easily into my Brinks system...You can't go wrong at this low price..I got 12 years out of one of these Yale locks and only replaced it because of tarnish..The Yale key will Fit into Kwick set locks,, so you can get the rekeyable easy key kick set locks and have all your doors on 1key..

Older tech but seems to work okay
As others have said, this must be old stock. The batteries expired July 2020, over four years ago. One was corroded enough that it broke the plastic shrink-wrap (photo).Replacing an old Schlage deadbolt was fairly easy. I had to use my old strike plate as this one was smaller and the screw holes did not line up.Although barely mentioned in the instructions, this model did come with a Z-Wave module pre-installed. I was able to pair it with my SmartThings hub, though it said it's using older Z-Wave technology (screen shot). SmartThings can lock and unlock, and display lock status, but cannot be used for programming the unlock codes, so I had to do that with the manual button-press mode. SmartThings does alert on lock/unlock events and which user unlocked, so that's good. Through SmartThings, I can also lock with Alexa. Unlocking by voice can be separately enabled in the Alexa app, but yeah, that's probably a bad idea if you don't want random people yelling through an open window to unlock the door haha.

Lock can't set itself, Z Wave doesn't work. Time Wasted
Thought I had a great deal getting a Z Wave lock from a reputable company on the cheap. But there's a reason it's selling for less than the cost of a non smart deadbolt from Schlage.First and foremost, I am extremely disappointed in the lock's inability to auto orient itself upon start.Being a "smart" lock, this thing has to calibrate upon start to see if it needs to turn to the left or right to lock the door (depending on your setup). My lock could never orient itself correctly and always thought it needs to turn to the left. This means the lock is essentially worthless, being unable to lock or unlock itself. Might as well use a regular lock at that point.Second, the Z Wave connection to Smarthings didn't really work. It shows up as a Light Switch. Yes, a Light Switch. To actually make it work, you'd need to get a specific driver from Yale. One guy on the internet makes one and you have to pay him money to use the driver. It was a dice roll and I didn't want test it out.So overall, this lock functions as a large regular dead bolt that also takes batteries. It's one of the most disappointing and time wasting product I've ever purchased, and I've had pretty good luck with electronics.Don't waste your time trying to set this up. The smart features in this old lock likely won't work for you, and if it does, your lock may not calibrate right, and no way for you to fix it.Spend more $$, get a better lock.

Well-made, sturdy lock at a reasonable price
Lock was easy to install (directions however could be better with some text rather than just pictures) and connected very easily with my alarm.com security system via z-wave. I have the IQ Panel 2Plus interface which connected with the lock in a few seconds. Installation and programming together took less than 15 minutes. Excellent build quality and very nice to look at when installed!

Works fine, very quiet, quirky installation
I almost gave up trying to install the lock because of following issue: if you first program it, then install, it may take a wrong orientation, and it is not trivial to change it. Apparently, one is supposed to install it, THEN program. This is somewhat sub-optimal, since a lot of programming must be done by pressing a lot of buttons, and it's not always convenient.Mine was stubbornly not working and I could not figure out why. Only after a couple hours of trying all sorts of stuff, I realized that it only works when assembled in a way which my door doesn't open, and after that google helped me with the rest. With that said, once this issue was fixed, the lock works surprisingly well. I keep my fingers crossed, but so far so good. It is very quiet; compared to schlage lock which can be heard all over the place every time it activates.

This lock with Z-Wave was an excellent bargain.
I needed a replacement of an old lock that was starting to fail and run through batteries. This lock was a remarkable bargain, and my home automation software had no problem finding and using the lock. One think to consider when looking for a lock is having physical buttons. The previous lock had a touch screen, and it was always a problem because you almost always have your hands full when you try to unlock the door, and I would miss without the physical buttons. This is a great lock from a well-known brand and it works.
