Delain celebrate their unforgettable tenth anniversary surrounded by musical friends and fans. DELAIN are celebrating their tenth anniversary! DELAIN will release their first live album "A Decade Of Delain - Live at Paradiso" a splendid, two CD-set fueled by some seriously incredible highlights. Naturally, songs like "Suckerpunch" and "We Are The Others" find their place in the track listing, as well as the beast of an opener "Hands Of Gold," which features Arch Enemy's "Alissa White-Gluz" which amounts to an in your face epic duet. Flawless chants and solo guitars lift this live record to a monumental state. Charlotte Wessels with her versatile vocal skills and the vibe of the guitars will elicit a visceral reaction, leaving you covered in goosebumps. Additionally, Fear Factory front man Burton C. Bell features on "Where Is The Blood" in another standout track. DELAIN invited many more unforgettable guests to their birthday party — you'll find the sound of Marco Hietala of NIGHTWISH as well as Liv Kristine to name just a few on the second half of this double album. DELAIN have celebrated 10 years with their musical friends and their fans and it truly is a special moment.

Ten years in the making...
Delain is one of those bands that never intended to be a band… they just sort of happened. Martijn Westerholt and Charlotte Wessels joined forces with a bunch of guest musicians and created Lucidity. Since then, they’ve created more albums, their label changed and band members have come and gone. Most importantly, and a decade down the line, this non-band band has finally released a live performance. They recorded this performance at an intimate venue in their native Netherlands, a particularly well known and beautiful former church, now called Paradiso. As a part of the show they invited guest musicians, think: Liv Kristine, Burton C. Bell, Alissa White-Gluz and George Oosthoek, though, unfortunately with one big omission: Marco Hietala – he had another gig on the same night but was virtually there. They even performed a track by replacing their current line-up with band members from the early days.I have been to a couple of Delain’s shows and they have always impressed me. They combine this heavy symphonic sound with a melodic pop vibe – it’s like diving into a pool of darkness but you never go in too deep. It’s dark, yet somehow feels optimistic. This performance has that same vibe, but with guest musicians that we could never dream of seeing on a normal tour. One thing that bothers me with live recordings of symphonic metal bands is the editing. They tend to have a billion different camera angles and the director/editor switches between them every couple seconds like a kid who's consumed way too much sugar. This sugar overloaded kid at least follows the action and attempts to hold the shots when needed, so I'm willing to overlook the point. As for the product itself, there’s something for everyone. Delain has combined the CDs, DVD and BD into a single package and given it a reasonable price tag. It’s remarkable considering that labels like to separate everything so they can sell die-hard fans several editions. Of course there's multiple vinyls and other editions available elsewhere, but still they combined three formats into one product. The DVD and BD also come with a documentary, a music video for Suckerpunch and an additional live performance of We Are The Others.Overall, a recommended purchase for anyone with a passing interest in Delain - especially if you've resorted to fan filmed YouTube videos in the past. I hope to see many more releases for Delain in the future.

Top album and package
Delian at their best - great set list - shame that the production doesn’t do them full justice.

must have for Delain fans, or a great way to discover them
I am a fan from the early days and honestly I was not sure about buying this because I had all the songs already. I am glad I ordered it: the live sound is monumental, Charlotte's voice so perfect, the songs beautifully rendered. And the DVD is marevellous to watch, the joy of the crowd and band - wish I had been there although I have seen some shows and they seem to always give it all to the crowd, every night. They are one of my favourite bands, such excellent melodic heavy stuff, and Charlotte is the cherry on the cake: so pretty, charming, dynamic, with the most sensuous voice in the genre - my opinion.

they were fantastic then, and they are fantastic on this live ...
Saw Delain live a month before this was recorded, they were fantastic then, and they are fantastic on this live CD/DVD/Blu-ray set.Definitely worth buying if you are a fan, or even if you have only heard of them - you won’t be disappointed! Also must highlight how good the package is itself, very nicely put together and it’s great that you get the double CD of the concert, and both DVD and blu-ray (not watched the DVD yet, but the blu-Ray is fantastic quality) definitely get your money’s worth.
