Q: How strong can you smell the oils? The holes in the necklace look pretty small.

You can smell the oils just fine. However, the loop on the top of the pendant is very weak, and breaks off of the pendant easily. I had this repaired by a professional after the first time it broke only to have it break again the next time my wife wore it.

Q: What size are the diffuser pads?

I actually bought this as a gift and I am not sure what the size of the pads were.

That would be the 17mm pads. We sell them in 60 count assorted colors and also in black only.
