Revell Monogram RM0067 1:32 - Phantom Mustang

I've wanted a Phantom Mustang for years and when Amazon offered one at a knock down price I couldn't say no... I thought to build straight from the box as my painting skills are pretty basic and I wanted to show the internal parts anyway. I changed my mind and decided to paint some sections (which has come out surprisingly well) The parts are well detailed although not on a par with many modern kits and come away from the sprue easily. Paint is easily applied. The parts glue together well but one oddity I noted was that some parts don't fully dry when joined together and leave the plastic looking and feeling like toffee. This peculiarity destroyed the working undercarriage mechanism and I had to strip it out and not bother with it. Good job I didn't pay the full price for the model then... The electrics are pretty easy to put together but it helps if you're not ham fisted or clumsy (like me) All in all this is a fun and challenging build, recommended for modellers with good skills. After market decals are available in the appropriate scale, the ones supplied with this kit sufficed however. Make sure each decal is firmly set on the plastic or it may bubble up and come away, like a couple of mine did... A recommended buy!

This model was originally released in the 1960’s and has not been updated at all since then. That said it was pure nostalgia for me as I enjoyed building this when I was young and my grandson gets as much pleasure from pressing the buttons to make the wheels and propeller work as I did when I was young.

What's in the box looks good. Put it away to build this winter
