Q: I am looking for a dac for my pc so the sound will be improved from my pc speakers. Will this do as a dac?

Hello. We are sorry this is only a preamplifier and can't be used as a DAC. You can connect it to your PC with a 3.5mm to RCA wire. And then you can use headphones to listen. The sound will get enhancement. If you want a DAC, maybe you can try this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DQ93DDY It can work as a DAC and you can connect this with USB cable.

Q: When running as a preamp does the unit get warm or hot? Do the tubes ever glow when running as a preamp? My unit doesn't...?

Vacuum tubes always glow,if they aren't then the filaments aren't being powered properly. Tubes are always hot as they are thermionic devices,meaning the heat excites the flow of electrons from the cathode to the anode,without the heated filaments the tubes dont work. You have a defective unit or a defective power supply.

Q: I just bought this headhphne amp, seems it will only works with the volume knob of full volume, is this normal?

It depends on what level of signal is being fed into it. I’m running a line level signal out of mixer into it and my volume control stays at about half to 3/4 if the way up.

Q: Does the unit get hot itself or does the tubes heat everything up to the point where it needs to be shut off after an hour?

The unit itself gets hot. The tubes don't seem to get too hot but I have not touched them or tested them with a thermometer when the unit is hot. You can touch the unit when it is hot.
