Superb cleaning fluid
PEC-PAD have a reputation that needs no further reviews. The Photographic Emulsion Cleaner is superb. It easily cleans off 40+ year old adhesive residue on my old 8mm films. Quickly dries with no streaking and residue when wiped down with a PEC-PAD. This fluid works as well or better than some 40+ year old Kodak film cleaner that I had. Probably without the toxic or environmentally unfriendly VOCs. Unfortunately I did not tighten the cap completely the last time I used the Kodak cleaner and it evaporated away. The only complaint I have is the cleaner evaporates so quickly from the pads you have little working time if needed. I apply to fluid to a cotton swab and wipe it down with a pad. If I need to cover large areas I'll moisten a pad.

It does what it says it should, and it does it well.
It does exactly what it says it does. Without the PEC-12, the PEC-PADs are great at picking up looser dirt and dust (especially useful on non-emulsion surfaces where you can't use PEC-12). On the emulsion, it also just cuts through grime without scratching, staining, or messing with the emulsion. When I'm dealing with photos I can replace, I don't want to be fiddling around with DIY solutions, so this is perfect for that. The bottle also makes dispensing the proper amount really easy. I will be buying it again.

Been using this to clean some 50+ year old slides that have a lot of dust & debris. The results have been exceptional.

Were the slides better after cleaning than before?
Did it streak? Yes. Did it remove dirt? Yes. Were the slides better after cleaning than before? Debatable. Save this stuff for the really dirty slides, don't use it if you don't have to. I used cotton swabs and as little of this stuff as I could to clean some unimportant slides. I found that it would remove dust that was not knocked off by a dry brush, or blown off by compressed air, but it also streaked leaving minor but visible smears on the slides. I also found that the cardboard slide carriers would snag fibers from the cotton swabs that intruded into the pictures nearly as badly as the dust I was trying to remove. Certainly not worth a blind "clean every slide" approach, perhaps worthy of "there's a blatant thumb print on slide 6, and I really like slide 6" cleanup. edit: After going through 1160 slides, and having nothing else to clean them with, I have a bit more experience with this stuff. The first slides I cleaned were from the early 50's and some of them had what appeared to be chemical residue from the developing process crystallized on the film. These are the ones that streaked badly, I think because the cleaning fluid dissolved the residue, but did not remove the residue. This required wiping down with the cleaning solution, and wiping it off with a dry q-tip several times to remove the residue. It worked but not quickly. Later slides seemed to have cigarette smoke residue on them, thin could be removed with a single application. Most of my slides were cleaned sufficiently by brushing them off with a camera sensor cleaning brush. It took at least 1 minute per slide to use this cleaning solution on the dirtier slides, and then they would still need to be brushed off to remove the residual cotton fibers from the Q-tips. I have increased the rating, but it is still tedious and difficult to use this stuff effectively. The answer to my question in the title is "Yes".

Delivered what it promises.
Great stuff. Using it to clean over 3000 slides. Easily removes fingerprints with appropriate swabs. Note: Has a strong smell and is highly flammable.

Cleans without damage
I inherited some really old (1920's) photos that I wanted to scan for my family, but they were dirty after years in my parents' closet. I didn't want to ruin my scanner, so I ordered this product. I as amazed at how much dirt came off without damaging the original. With a few drops of the liquid on one of the wipes, the photos were ready to scan, and the all the grime was on the wipe. I'd order it again, but I probably won't have to since I barely used any of the solution and few of the wipes as well. I know I probably could have figured out how to make the solution myself and saved money, but I didn't want to take any chances, and I'm glad I decided to buy.
