Worked as expected
This traced a wire in a car loom to an unconnected end in 5 minutes. Solved my problem 1st time using this tracer. Auto electrizan quoted me £120 for the first hour and £60 thereafter. To be honest, however long this keeps working, I’ve had my money’s worth already. Very happy.

A Useful Wire Tracer That Gives Good Value for Money
The media could not be loaded. Professional wire tracers can cost hundreds of pounds, but as I was only trying to find where four Cat 5E cables were going, I opted for something more affordable.I'm pleased with the purchase. By placing the transmitter on the Cat 5E cables behind the faceplates, I was able to determine which cables they corresponded to at the network hub using the probe. It doesn't have the best range, so if you're looking to locate cables behind walls, I'd get something else. It gets a lot of interference too, but if you make sure you probe the end of each cable, you'll find this tool invaluable.

Cheap and cheerful
Ideal for sparks working on large projects where apprentices can’t be arsed to label the cables after pulling them in.

Not fit for purpose
Tried this on a job,it does not give you a clear identification tone of correct cable, the signal tone is very weak and inconsistent it comes and goes, changed batteries just in case, same bad result.Do not buy

Really impressed
Invaluable tool on singles when testing and inspecting the multitude of three phase DBs on my job . Find unmarked circuits in minutes rather than hours same with mixed up legs of rings at DB ect .Was using a more expensive company fluke before but this thing is mustard for the money , nice build quality and pin point accuracy in a cluster of cables .Money well spent in my opinion , would definitely recommend and will probably buy another just incase they stop selling them on here its that good 👍

Does the job. Just.
Item is easy to use but you can’t short out a pair on the tip of the amplifier as it’s plastic. It’s also not very sensitive. The oscillator doesn’t indicate if it has been shorted out whilst the tone is on which would be very useful.

Invaluable when you need it, not the best one out there
At first I was not terribly impressed, thought I had wasted my money. However a few months down the line and it went from waste of money to being gold plated and fantastic. A real life saver. I am an gas engine engineer and had to trace 2 core wire out of a electrical control cabinet in a bundle of 15 wires, down conduit, where it then split into 4 different conduit going all over the engine, we are talking a 30ft x 10ft x 8ft (LxHxW) engine all cable tied together. An impossible task, but this little cheap plastic green tone generator did it, I was so thankful. I would not have been able to do it without this. I identified the cable, checked continuity and it was spot on. Fantastic.I can’t praise this enough today, it has earned its place in my van and it’s now a valuable bit of kit for electrical fault finding and tracing wires

not good
well no its not good as you could have 5 or 10 wires close together and you would never know which one it is so i think its a total waste of money sorry but its a fact
