Stortz & Bickle Volcano Plastic Herb Grinder, 2.3, Orange

Mrs, wanted one of these as she uses the company’s vape. She says it’s better than a normal one as it grinds very fine.

Used with married iguanas and gave a great consistency, packed it in now but it went until the bitter end and was gifted to a friend and is still going strong.

I have been grinding herbs for over 30 years, and after chunks started breaking off from my previous plastic grinder - which I had been using for several years - I decided that it was time for a new one. I wanted a plastic grinder due to the light weight and ease of carrying around, and this one from Storz & Bickel caught my attention. After placing my order it arrived the next day. My first impression was positive - some thought had obviously been given to the design, and its reflective orange colour and smooth serrated edges give it a slightly futuristic look. The plastic is thick and appears sturdy, and apart from the shark teeth there are no sharp edges and none of the burrs that result from sloppy machining or moulding. I placed some smelly oregano in the grinding chamber, and although the herbs were slightly stringy and could have done with curing for another day or two, just by applying a few twists it became completely shredded with ease and very little resistance. As others have already noted, the grinding mechanism is completely smooth and I was very impressed. After reading other reviews i was hoping that the two halves would stay together to some extent if some care is taken. But unfortunately there is no way that the grinder can be placed in a bag or any other position other than horizontally without both parts becoming separated, and the only way for the parts to stay together when it is transported is to either use an elastic band or buy / sew a snug fitting pouch for it. For me that defeats the purpose of an item that is meant to be portable, even though the lack of magnets does mean that it grinds better than many other models. My other gripe is that the plastic that is used seems to facilitate the build up of static, so that pieces of herb will easily stick to the inside of the grinding chamber, and have to be removed with a brush. This never happened with any of my previous grinders, where bits of plant matter would only occasionally become physically lodged between the teeth. And although the transparent screen can be placed on either end of the grinder where it sits securely, it would have been nice to have a second screen for capping both ends, and having two separate compartments for different types of ground plant matter. As a result, I have decided that this grinder is not suited for carrying around, as I would just like to be able to carry it in a pocket without the hassle of having to unwrap elastic bands or removing it from a carrying pouch each time I use it. It will have its place as a tabletop grinder though, until I have decided on a metal one that is better suited for my needs and which doesn't require a brush to remove all the content. I am sure that i will find someone who isn't as fussy as I am and who will appreciate it as a gift, as it really is a good grinder which just happens to not quite suit all my personal requirements.

Lovely grinder , I have the mighty and wanted a matching grinder , prefer ones without magnets so this one is perfect for me, sturdy grinder and good grip

Why did you choose this product over others?: Good product , however after a few uses the grinder does seem to stiffen up as particles/debris get caught up between the two parts. It requires more frequent cleaning unfortunately.

Fantastic!! Grinds herbs well, easy to use, perfect size for cutlery draws/bags/pockets ... I've been using it everyday for cooking and it's still working! definitely worth the money. will be buying another soon!

Helt galet go grinder, köpte någon som kostade 5 gånger mer men är inte ens i närheten lika bra. Bästa man kan få för priset.

Ottima fattura, non mi aspettavo diversamente dalla ditta che produce i Vulcano. Unica pecca la mancanza di un piccolo magnete centrale che supporti la chiusura.
