Schwalbe Big Apple Performance Wired Tyre with Raceguard Endurance Reflex 890 g (60-622) - 28 x 2.35 Inches

I ride an MTB-type electric bike, but I don't do any mountain biking. Having survived two heart attacks and being at the latter end of my seventies, my interest is now purely in the fun, and the infinitely variable exercise levels, that an electric bike can provide. I swapped my bike's original knobbly MTB tyres for these balloon tyres, and it's the best thing I could have done. The results were instant. Their rolling resistance on smooth roads is a fraction of their predecessors'. They're smoother, faster, more comfortable, more responsive to effort and generally all-round more efficient and more enjoyable. They're easy to fit and they look good. And they'd do equally well on a conventional machine. I had some difficulty finding these tyres. None of the usual suspects seem to stock them, and only Amazon could provide them on demand, but they were well worth seeking out. They have literally changed my life.

I was sceptical about the impact of changing tires from my regular off road tires (specialized ground control 29*2.1), and whether they would be much different at all. The Big Apples work well at speed, and it isn't difficult to maintain a high speed just by feeding into the momentum of the tyres from a downhill section. Excellent handling in all conditions, I've never had any traction issues, even through ridiculous rain and puddles (haven't experienced snow yet..). They are quiet too, and look awesome. I have had them on for over a year and have had lots of compliments. Over half the compliments on my bike are about the tyres, and that's saying something because my bike looks sweet.

This review won't cover durability, I've only just fitted them.What I'd like to say though, is that for commuting on a mountain bike these are wonderfully fast. I ride a 2012 Giant Talon 29er "0" back and forth to work (7 miles each way on the Taff Trail) and was using the Kenda Small Block 8 tyre, which were perfectly fine, but the difference after fitting the Big Apples is stunning. They roll very easily and still feel grippy despite the lack of tread even on loose gravel, I won't be taking them "off Road" I have a full suspension 26 inch bike for that, but I think you would be hard pressed to beat these tyres in an urban environment.Update:I have now done 1,500 miles on them in the last 3 months and have only had a single puncture (a very sharp metal shard) and there looks to be lots of wear left on them. I will definitely be buying another pair when these finally give out.

Big tyres with an excellent roll. Have fitted these on a recumbent bike I built and they are very smooth compared to the mountain bike tyres I was using. Good grip too. So I just lie back on the recumbent and watch the world go by as I roll along!

Great tyres, comfortable for any bumps in the road, very low rolling resistance so can travel quite fast. No punctures in over 2000 miles of mainly London riding over 2 years.

I'm at an age where I'm happy to give up a bit of speed for a bit more comfort, and they are very comfortable and very little tyre noise.

Looks great and are great

This was a great buy it was advertised as cosmetic damage but I cannot find anything wrong with it and with at least 50% off it was a great buy.but very late delivery spoilt the whole experience although Amazon extended my membership for the inconvenience.

Vanno bene su ghiaia, terriccio secco, non le ho provate sul bagnato e credo che non lo farò, su asfalto vanno alla grande, peccato che non le ho acquistate prima.La resistenza al rotolamento è diminuita nettamente rispetto alle Rocket Ron e quindi la velocità di percorrenza è aumentata.(È aumentata tanto da fare uscire fuori problemi legati al cambio e ai cuscinetti che non sapevo e che farò sistemare.)Montate su cerchi 17c vanno bene lo stesso.Sembrano più grandi delle tassellate e ne giova l'aspetto.E sono molto silenziose.Sono arrivate prima del previsto, bravo il venditore e brava Amazon :)

Per le uscite principalmente su asfalto avevo già sostituito sulla mia Mtb 29er HardTail i copertoni originali Michelin Country Racer 29x2.10 tassellati con degli Schwalbe Marathon Cross 28x1.50 ottenendo un notevole miglioramento della scorrevolezza e una diminuzione totale di 0.6kg sulle masse ruota utile in salita. Purtroppo però, viste le pressioni di gonfiaggio da tenere con i copertoni più piccoli, il confort sulle imperfezioni dell'asfalto era decisamente peggiorato. Ho quindi preso questo copertone misura 28x2.35 da montare al posteriore lasciando all'anteriore il copertone piccolo e sono rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso del risultato che non credevo così buono. Devo ancora capire come vanno in curva ma sul dritto e gonfiato a 2.5bar, la scorrevolezza è aumentata, anche se di poco, rispetto al Marathon Cross gonfiato a 5bar mentre la performance in salita è peggiorata di poco solo nelle salite più ripide per via del maggior peso. Adesso però mi sembra di avere una sospensione anche al posteriore tanto questo pneumatico attutisce le irregolarità dell'asfalto ed era proprio quello che mi prefiggevo. Tra l'altro l'assetto da dragster ottenuto con ruota grande dietro e piccola davanti è anche appagante alla vista.EDIT 11-07-2017: Anche in piega e in frenata il pneumatico fa il suo dovere. Certo non ci faccio staccate e pieghe da motogp ma, dopo staccata dai 60kmh, tornatini in discesa con traiettoria interna presi in entrata a 30kmh e 40kmh in uscita non mi ha mai dato alcun cenno di problema. Con il copertoncino da 1.50 al posteriore qualche pericolosa inchiodata invece l'ho data.

I'm doing a fair bit of road riding on my Scott Sparks and it made cycling fun and more efficient compared to the knobbies! Very very low rolling resistance!2.35 inch 29ers looks great on my bike as well! Never know a slight tweak can make riding enjoyable on long distance again!

Fahre diesen reifen auf einem 29 zoll ktm mountainbike geht sich super aus wenn man Scheibenbremsen hat! Bei 28 zoll trekking offroad rädern zb zusätzlich auf die höhe aufpassen des Gummi wegen des querträgers zwischen den dämpfern ! Reifen ist aufgezogen 5cm breit und 5 cm hoch ab felgenkante ca !!!!!
