It Does What A Phone Should Do
After finally deciding to put a phone in the house, we looked for one that would fit our needs to simply make and receive calls without depending on just the cell phone. The VTech VA17241BK Dect 6.0 Cordless Phone fit the bill. We didn't need a lot of bells and whistles, just a basic phone. Sound quality is decent and the answering machine and Caller ID work well. If you're looking for a simple, inexpensive phone, I have no problems recommending the VTech VA17241BK Dect 6.0 Cordless Phone.

Good quality and clear sound, but without speaker phone function.
The feel of the phone is good in the hand and against the face. Buttons on this phone are big and easy to use. The signal has good distance and great sound quality. I wear hearing aids and there was no problem there. My biggest dislike of this phone is it has no speaker phone option, but that was stated in the description. After a few weeks of this phone I couldn't do it any more. Had to buy a phone with many of the same features but most important was the speaker phone option. Great buy if you want a good low price phone with good sound, signal and many good features.

The phone works fine. But the speaker on the handheld unit is ...
The phone works fine. But the speaker on the handheld unit is not great, it could be more clear. Also, the window showing the caller ID is smaller than expected and sometimes difficult to read. OK for the price

Easy to set up and use
A nice, inexpensive cordless phone. It's easy to set up and use. I like the answering machine feature even though no one leaves messages anymore. If you're not looking looking for anything fancy, just a phone with an answering system, this is what you want to get.

Great price and does the job
I needed a phone to set up a business line. The controls are basically plug n play, and the only issues I have had is the number of telemarketing, which has nothing to do with the phone.

Inferior audio recording quality
I bought this VTech answering system from Amazon to replace my old General Electric 29869 unit, which finally broke down in 2019 after serving me well for about twenty years. It was a mistake. I had no intention of using the handset – the VTech VA17241BK was to be used on a split line with a Panasonic KX-TS880 landline phone. My only interests in it were to be able to screen incoming phone calls and record those that I missed. I had no major problem with the way the VA17241BK screened my incoming calls – its speaker audio was clear enough to understand. My only complaint in this regard is that it didn't quite go loud enough. However, I had major problems with the way the VA17241BK played back recorded calls. The audio quality of the built-in memory on the unit is very poor. Examples: a caller left a message for me with a phone number to call her back at, but one of the digits in it was impossible to understand clearly. A different caller left me a different message where her name sounded like it was “Brock”, but when I spoke to her later it was actually “Brooke.” This is the kind of message recording audio quality you can expect from the VA17241BK. I discovered this major defect too late to be able to return my VA17241BK to Amazon for a refund – I had mistakenly thought the substandard audio quality was due to either poor landline phone connections or wireless signals from callers that very briefly dropped out of receiving range. A quick phone call from another landline number very close to my own finally showed me where the real problem was: the VA17241BK itself. There was a time when audio memory was very limited (and very expensive) in solid-state technology, but that was long ago. If General Electric could do it right back in 1999 with their 29869 phone answering system (and they did), why can’t VTech do it right with theirs in 2019? What good is an answering machine if you can’t understand at least part of the messages its callers leave on it? Summary: buy the VTech VA17241BK at your own risk.

Le pongo 4 estrellas por que en el identificador de llamadas si guardas un numero en la agenda y marcas de ese numero no aparece el nombre de la persona solo aparece el numero pero el teléfono es muy bueno
