In the imagery of ancient Egypt, the eye of Udjat is a protective symbol representing the Eye of the falcon god Horus.
Egyptologists generally consider that the figuration of the Udjat Eye is a hybrid of the human eye and the Falcon's eye: It combines parts of the human eye, the conjunctiva, the pupil and the eyebrow, presumably the spots below the eye are of the Falcon.
The Udjat eye had a magical function linked to the prophylaxis, the restoration of completeness and the vision of the "invisible". It was represented on the sarcophagi and on the pectorals.
The term "third eye" simply indicates that the person is a medium and has a faculty to feel things. It seems more related to an intelligence quotient or a very rich DNA than to a faculty that could be discovered during his life with exercises or meditation.
