Fluval FX2 External Aquarium Filter

I've had this since end of Aug 2024 and I'm super impressed. I actually got this for a 235L Tank, it's more than enough for it and does the job. I did have a look at the FX4 but didn't see the point of it given the size of the tank. I have an aqua sys 235 with the cabinet and this has enough space to fit under it. I would highly recommend Fluval products. I love the fact the flow of the output can be controlled, the build of it is amazing and just generally the support you get from Fluval (mine came from the seller Aquacadabra but dispatched by them), I have used Aquacadabra before and super impressed with them too

I bought this as a replacement for a 15 year old Fluval 305 cannister filter.I'm running the FX2 on a 240 litre/64 gallon planted tank.Very easy to set up.I used the bio media from my old filter as its well established with beneficial bacteria and mixed it with the included media.Good flow from the output nozzles,do much so I've removed my wave maker.I've also added the Fluval FX UVC clarifier to the filter and all works excellent.Very quiet and a very worthy upgrade from my old filter.

Great filter use on my 200L goldfish tank !Can block occasionally but that’s goldfish for you little poop machines also have one in my 300 L tropical tank which is fantastic too !Good flow of water and handy ammonia, nitrate pads, an extra to buy but easily slot into the baskets

Very easy to set up. Perfect for my 200l tropical tank. More than enough flow,keeps the tank spotless. I did have to purchase the spray bar to distribute the flow more evenly across the top as the output nozzle produced too much flow for my fish. Would highly recommend. Fits perfectly in a Fluval roma cabinet.

Although I left 8 inches of hose instead of 6 from the lip to the water. You can adjust to suit later.Separate the 2 parts of the eheim pre filter. Put the top lid on to the bottom filter. We don't need both parts of the filter.Don't use the fluval strainer. We just want the outer tube of the telescopic tube. Attach the eheim directly to the tube. No need for rubber joints it will fit.Use the junior hacksaw to cut the corners off the lid to allow room the new FX pipework.

Good fillter small and lightweight even when full

This filter is great I just wish I bought the FX-4 I bought this filter with my cabinet size in mind, it was slightly smaller than expected, and only £5 or so cheaper than the FX-4, but it does a great job in terms of efficiency, I have lots of fish meaning there Is a high bio load in my tank, the filter could come with more but that is the case with 90% of filters on the market, in order to enhance the filter I added a few things, I added pre filter rings in the very bottom to better distribute the flow of water and catch the bigger chunks of detritus, bio carbon to the bottom tray (filled it) more biological filter rings in the tray on top, and on top of them I added 4 fine filter pads and then placed the original coarse filter pad on top, i also got rid of the red basket additions within as they seemed fairly pointless to me, so far it works awesome for me now, I couldn't reccomend any more that you upgrade your filter as much as possible ! If needed watch YouTube videos on your filter upgrades, maybe even more filters so you can make your own decision as to what may be the best customization for you !
