Q: What is the difference between 1.0M and 1.0N solution? I seen both listed for sale.

Both refer to the concentration of the solution, in mol/L. The M refers to molarity, and the N refers to normality. In this case, they are equivalent.

Q: What is the equivalent of lye in the liquid compared to dry lye? I make soap and it seems there is more water and little lye in the liquid form.

This is not really designed for purposes like making soap, its a lab chemical It's 1 M NaOH, which comes out to about 4% NaOH by weight. If that helps.

Q: why is 1M the same as 1N

Because for +- 1 ion chemicals like HCl and NaOH, 1 molar (1 gram-molecular weight) is equal to 1 equivalent. Not so,, for example, for sulfuric acid (H2SO4), where 1 M is 2N.

Q: Can this 1 m naoh be treated as a standard for the purposes of titration to obtain accurate results (i.e., is it 1.00 +/- 0.01 n or better)?

This chemical was not made to NIST standards so it may not be that tight in regards to +/- 0.01
