Q: How long does it take to brew, or how long before you've got a drinkable product??? Thanks in advance.

It takes me about 2 weeks from starting the brew to bottling, then about another 2 weeks to clear and be drinkable. All this depends upon keeping the brew at a good temperature during ferment. 20 to 22oC seems good but it well take longer the cooler it is. Hope this helps, happy brewing.

Q: I'm a complete novice at this and thought I'd give it a try. Can some one briefly outline exactly what I'll need and the process please?

I have only returned to home brewing recently. A basic kit, 5 gallon fermentation bin, mine has a tap near the bottom to save siphoning, sterilising powder, bottles and 1kg sugar. I am doing 2 kits together but have reduced water to 18 pints instead of the 24 recommended. Original gravity was 1. 082 meaning it should work out at 9.45 abv. It’s been bubbling away nicely for a week now. Think bottling will happen tomorrow. Good luck
