I bought this for my son who is on the autism spectrum. He is fascinated by globes and maps so this fits into his room theme perfectly. He has others, but this one is so unique. It's very geographically correct, but it's clear on the inside. When its lit up, it becomes a work of art. It was very easy to assemble and works great. It's very sturdy and seems durable.

The lights that go inside the globe burned a hole into the plastic casing which is dangerous. It caused all the lights to stop working and when I opened the globe to remove the lights, it was filled with smoke!

This is metallic paint on acrylic and the equator is populated with the knobs that hold the two hemispheres together, which can make it look a bit tacky to some. But I particularly like the gold on clear look, and I don't mind the knobs. All countries are labeled. I originally gave this 4 stars, but I discovered they committed one of my pet peeves when I decided to install the LEDs. They have an inline electronic toggle switch, which means when the power first comes on, the lights are always off. You have to press the button to turn them on. Why is this an issue? Because it prevents you from controlling it with a timer. In my case, I have a landline phone that is connected via a Bluetooth device. This phone is mostly off, but there are times when I need it to be on. I wanted to put these lights on the same timer as the Bluetooth device that controls the phone, so that these lights can serve as an indicator of the phone on status. I can't do that because of this irritating, default 'off', switch. I will have to remove the switch and solder the wires back together. If an electronic toggle is used, it should have its default state to be on when the power comes on.
