Very sharp, accurate, self-sharpening, German craftsmanship and a 5 year guarantee.
This is a solid, professional and very sharp trimmer.Does a super nice job of trimming paper and can take literally a sliver, even a mini sliver off your sheet of paper. It's so handy. I used to use one of these hand held rotary trimmers and a straight edge which still has its uses but, now I go straight to my Dahle.German craftsmanship and a 5 year guarantee. What are you waiting for?

So pleased I decided on buying the Dahle 552 trimmer.
I spent AN AGE deciding on which trimmer to purchase when I finally acknowledged that I needed to replace my 19 year old Avery A3 trimmer. There is so much choice. I am very pleased that I decided on the Dahle 552. It is everything I hoped it would be. Good quality, aesthetically pleasing. Does the job very well. I was concerned that it might be so much larger and heavier than my old trimmer, and so possibly difficult to store somewhere accessible. But it is actually lighter than I expected- going by other reviews I thought it might be a huge and a bit too heavy, but I don't think so myself. It is bigger than my more portable A3 was, and so best to bare in mind where you want to keep it. A very happy customer.

It looks like the best paper cutter/trimmer/guillotine I have ever used -- ...
Bought this after reading reviews on Amazon.co.uk. Just received and tested. It looks like the best paper cutter/trimmer/guillotine I have ever used -- and I have used many over many years. Sold, strong (big!), with a self-sharpening blade. It has key-hole slots for hanging it on the wall, if you have a suitable wall, or for permanent set-up (for those who have the space) there is even a stand, which has its own paper-cutter for all the trimmed-off edges.I bought a cheap A3 cutter from Ryman in 2013 and after less than two years it wouldn't cut a clean edge. It was advertised as taking replacement blades, so I went to the shop to buy blades -- but discovered that the manufacturers in China had made tiny changes in the design, and the new blades wouldn't fit the "old" cutter, so it is unrepairable and rubbish -- a case of a "cheap" purchase turning out very expensive. I should have bought one of these Dahle cutters first-time round and saved myself over £30 wasted. This unit was designed in Germany and manufactured in the Czech republic, with careful attention to detail.Highly recommended.

Precision trimmer
Truly a precision trimmer which cuts cleanly and smoothly and is an absolute pleasure to use. I've used an A4 Dahle trimmer for years and it has served me well so I fully expect this A3 version to be the same; it has a 5 year guarantee with it also. The measurements on the base are set out in paper sizes (A6 through to the short side of A2) as well as metric, with inches as well as mm / cm on the rulers at either side. The magnetic backstop is useful when a number of sheets are being cut at the same time. The precision of the trimmer has also proved conclusively that a pack of A3 card I purchased from a different seller was badly cut and therefore wouldn't fold accurately - the edges weren't square - so at least this trimmer will now render it useable.

IT CUTS
It does exactly what it is meant to. Cuts paper.

Buy This and not Flimsier Versions! Worth the Extra £
This is a brilliant investment if you often cut paper or card. Don’t bother with the cheaper flimsier versions - you will really regret it. This is worth the extra money and some. Yes, it’s big and sturdy but to me, when I cut paper and card weekly - it’s worth it. Cuts through at least 10 sheets of paper at a time with a blade that cuts like butter.

Shoddy product and awful customer service
I bought 5 of these, one broke within a month and another two within 2 months. The blades “pop out” of position and cannot be put back. Don’t buy this product! This product is guaranteed for 5 years so I contacted the manufacturer in the US, they replied saying they’d referred it to their UK “arm” who would be in touch with me. Still waiting several weeks later. Have had to replace the machines in the meantime with a different make (similar price but much more robust). Am now considerably out of pocket.

Good, but cutting capacity is misleading
This is a well made and effective trimmer when cutting single or a few sheets at a time, but has its shortcomings when comparing against the manufacturers specification. After re-reading the reviews most get good results with a single or few sheets, which in my experience the cutting and trimming is first class but beyond this the quality of the cut drops off severely. I had purchased with a view to trim 8 page stapled A5 brochures folded from 4 sheets of A4 160gsm Xerox paper, but the quality of the cut was too poor to be usable as promotional material.I'd, maybe incorrectly, assumed that 20 sheets of 80gsm would equate to 1600gsm capability and at 1280gsm, 8 sheets of 160gsm was well within the capability of the trimmer - sadly this isn't the case so am returning to Amazon.
