The Original Asia 18" Teak Shower Bench

I bought this to use as a shower/bathroom seat for our wet room having looked at many others - and although more expensive this is absolutely well worth the money. It’s very easy to assemble (minimal assembly required) and is extremely sturdy. It has a wide, comfortable seat and is very well made - it’s a really good-looking, well designed high quality seat. Being solid teak it’s water resistant, and is easy to care for. Highly recommended!

I hesitated but now it has arrived, I have no regrets. Even the box and packing are as superior to normal boxes, as the stool is to other stools (thick solid cardboard, interior foam molding and box side adhesive cushions; rattle free). This really stands out. It comes disassembled but the 6 long hex screws are easy to fit with the provided alan key, though I had a longer one of my own to speed things up even more. It is very stable and has reassuring 'heft' and finish. The fittings, overall thickness and density, are as you'd exect at this price point. I'd think an annual teakoiling will be sensible but it needs nothing the first year. This is a very substantial, solid teak, curved-not-molded elegant seat, water resistant, suitable for shower rooms (useful to clean your feet, shower safely or sit and dry your hair). It's easy to lift but heavy at 8kg (17.5 lbs). The 4 heavy duty rubber feet are +/- 10mm height adjustable. An investment that will last. It shows its quality at a glance. It'll suit a (larger) shower, wet room or even a muddy porch. You should consider the space availble carefully: The 300x450mm (12x18") seat takes more space that you might instinctively think for a mere stool. It'd not be ideal to sit on it's short side due to its curve. At 45cm (18") high it is slightly higher than shorter people might find easy for long sits. RECOMMENDED

Solid, easy to put together (6 bolts), looks stylish not medical and comfortable to sit on. It has adjustable feet as well which is handy on a sloping wet room floor. It arrived a week before expected as well which was a bonus.

I wanted a sturdy, stylish seat for large walk-in shower whilst recovering from knee surgery but definitely didn't want it to scream 'mobility aid for the older person'! This seat is stunning and makes the shower look like a fancy spa. Very simple to put together, very sturdy with adjustable, rubber feet so no wobbles or slipping even when wet. Even when I am recovered, this seat is staying put. Expensive, yes, but well worth the investment.

Absolutely gorgeous, great to use in shower. Smells lovely when wet plus very comfortable to sit on. There maybe cheaper ones, however, this is certainly with the money. Quality oozes from this bench and design is also stunning

Love this stool, purchased because of a carpal tunnel procedure but didn’t want the usual medical supplies making my bathroom look like a hospital. It fantastic and well worth the money, very sturdy and comfortable to sit on. I will also use it with my music stand to practice playing my cornet so a very useful and comfortable addition to my home

This shower / bathroom teak seat is a quality product. Well made, lovely colour, very substantial and with a really smooth finish to the wood - no rough edges etc. easy to assemble too, only six stainless steel screws to fit, all holes lined up perfectly and comes complete with an Allen key. I was initially concerned at having this order fulfilled and delivered from the USA, but it arrived ahead of schedule and was very well packed. It’s a great price when compared to similar items with other suppliers. Highly recommended.

I love everything about this product. First, the aesthetics - it is beautifully designed in an old Japanese style. It fits perfectly with my Asian decor and Japanese soaking tub. Second, the quality. This bench is very sturdy and I expect will last for years. It weighs 16 pounds, assembled. Thick teak legs, top and crossbar. No marks or defects on the surface anywhere. Nice color wood that looks a little aged, but has a bright new patina. Third, the details. Designed for good water runoff which will add to the product life. There are large rubber pads on the bottom of the legs, so you can make adjustments if needed to level it. Nice touch. The screws are in recessed holes so you can’t see them after assembly. Again, a nice detail. 4th, easy assembly. Took me less than 15 mins. Clear instructions. Only six screws to screw in. 5th, Good value. It lists for $149, but occasionally goes on sale for $108. That’s a great price for a high-quality item. 6th, outstanding customer service. There was a minor problem on one leg, which I would not call a defect - just something that might affect its durability. As shown in my last picture, one of the holes on one leg happened to fall exactly on a crack between 2 boards on the leg. I wondered if that might cause the leg to split apart a little after years of service and exposure to water. When I called the company, they were very understanding and readily agreed to send a replacement part. They sent it out promptly the next day. So that makes it perfect. Also, notably, my call was months beyond the return period and they did not make that an issue. They didn’t have to do anything, but customer service is a big priority for this company, so they put the customer first. How refreshing is that ?!! 6th. It’s very sturdy. It’s a bench so it’s made for seating, not standing. But I got it in part so I could stand on it to help get into a deep soaking tub. It works for that purpose. Just be sure your weight is centered on the middle of the bench, not the sides. Here’s one tip for assembly: when starting each screw, if it seems snug - do not force it. Instead wiggle the screw a little side to side until it finds its groove. Then you can easily hand tighten it about half way. Then, use the tool to tighten about 3/4 of the way. I recommend not tightening any Screw all the way until all of them are partly in. That way you can wiggle the parts a little, if needed, to fit snuggly in all places. Then slowly finish screwing in tge screws. Be careful not to overtighten (just hand tighten per the instructions) because overtightening could strip the top of the screw or the wood. Re-tighten again, if needed, after 2 weeks of use. So to sum up, this bench is beautiful, sturdy, very well made, easy to assemble, and a great price for the high quality of the product. And also, thanks for the good customer service. I shopped around a lot before second on this one. I’m glad I did. I think you’ll be happy with anything you buy from this company.
