Cleared my pipes
This rod set does exactly what it says. The sections are well made and screw tight to one another with a well bored thread. Not made of wood, but that's not a biggie. I found it perfect for rodding the pipes and it has a bit of bend if you can't get totally horizontal with the pipe you want to rod. Easy to clean afterwards and comes in a strong clear plastic storage bag. Very good product for the money.

Excellent purchase, well worth the money.
I bought these in 2012 and six years later I am deciding to write a review. Why? Because on a wet Easter Bank Holiday Monday they have once again proved an absolute godsend and I feel so grateful. I dread to think how much it would have cost me to call out a plumber/drain service or how long I'd have had to wait whilst my kitchen drain overflowed and flooded the patio. I've used these about seven or eight times over the years to clear drains, and the advice that a friend gave me that my initial outlay would be about the price of one callout and then after that it would be pure savings has proved correct. I'm no DIY expert. I've only had to use single rods; one attached to the double worm screw and one attached to the plunger. Just shoved the worm screw down first to stir up the gunge and clear some out with a rubber glove. Then used the plunger to get things flowing and that has worked a treat each time. Took about ten minutes and the problem was solved. The attachments are strong and secure, I imagine it could be a nightmare if you used cheap ones which snapped off. These have definitely worked for me and I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

Unblocked the external drain
Unblocked a very slow external drain though does require a bit of effort and time to accomplish. Still better and much cheaper than calling out a company to sort it out. Initial impression after only on use is that rods are strong as survived a lot of plunging.

Pay A Bit More !!
Had these Rods and a couple of accessories shipped here to Costa Blanca Spain as some installations here are notoriously 'questionable' to say the least. 3 reasons: 1. Very difficult to get them here. (You try explaining 'I am trying to unblock my sewer pipes' in Spanish without demonstrating using your hands or showing then a picture... 'Que'?) 2. Very, very expensive when you do eventually find them. 3. A darn sight cheaper than some of the "Mmmm (sharp intake of breath), thats gonna cost ya !".... Drain and sewer cleaning Companies here who always manage to get the Bill up to a minimum of about 200-300 Euros regardless of what the problem is....! Use them correctly and you will find that you have a 'very good' quality product. Don't buy the 'cheapies' as with these you are buying a reliable product that won't let you down and won't break or separate at the Brass Joints. Also consider spending a little more and buy the Drain Rod Clearing Wheel and the Drain Rod Jointed Scraper 4 inch . They are useful accessories for the more awkward jobs that are very common here in Spain. 'Happy Rodding' from here in Spain.

Flexible yet strong
Having failed to shift a kitchen waste blockage with the Draper drain unblocker (snake), I decided to increase my arsenal with these rods. The quality of the Draper Drain Unblocker was okay (as are most Draper products that I own) and having read the other reviews, I decided to maintain my Draper loyalty. In practice the rods are strong, flexible and brass joints are solid and secure. I cleaned down the rods as they came out with a rag and used an old bicycle inner tube for grip to tighten / untighten the rods; do i also need to say "only turn the rods clockwise"? Having spent the day with these rods and failing to cure a slow draining kitchen sink problem, I solved my blockage with Cillit Bang Active Foam Cleaner - here's a link. Please read my review for the Draper Drain Unblocker for the full story.... Cillit Bang Active Foam Soapscum and Shower (Pack of 3) Draper 22171 4.7m Drain Cleaner

No more congestion charges!
Bought this to avoid being overcharged by builders/plumbers as for this price, (£30) it's cheaper than a call out charge and 30min work. The 9m length was perfect, (and even impressed the wife!) The rod worked beautifully. It's tough enough to push the blockage yet bendy enough to get round a 45 degree corner and could be forced through a drain at the bottom of a standard manhole 4 ft deep, (so you can imagine the bend I had to put in it) and when it emerged it wasn't bent at all, just covered in slime. You get a double thread screw end piece and a rubber disc approx 10cm diameter. The poles are 90cm in length and doing the maths there should be 10 poles. The connections are made by screwing the metal ends together, these feel very strong and secure. Please remember that when twisting the poles twist in a clockwise direction as turning anti clockwise may result in the poles unscrewing...just an observation. You also get small plastic straps to hold the poles together afterwards for storage, although how long they'll last is anyone's guess. I've never used an item so quickly after delivery and am happy in the knowledge that when the next time comes....I'll be ready.

A first class product
Having spent around £300 over the past three years, clearing our kitchen drain, I was advised to consider buying a set of drain rods. I looked at the reviews of these on Amazon and bought them. To date, with the torrents of water we've had over the last few months, a great deal of extraneous rubbish has been washed from the garden, roof and patio into the drain. These flexible rods cleared the blockages with ease.
