Good cable with a short life...
Bought two back in 2016 to use with my MacBook Pro 13' Retina Display (early 2015) and my two Samsung 4K 28" monitors. After 1,5 year of regular use - I don't carry nor move/twist it frequently (it's basically resting on the desk both at home and work) - both cables stopped working with a difference of a month between each other. Initially I thought it was be a problem with my Mac and/or my monitors (I couldn't believe the coincidence of having two cables failing at approximately the same time), but I've managed to find a new cable from a friend and my Mac as well as the monitors are working just fine. Isolating all factors, the only thing really failing are the cables (and there's two of them to make sure is not an individual/isolated case). It seems that this cable is not very durable (compared to other cables such as HDMIs, USBs, etc), so bare that in mind. I don't have experience with other brands, and the ones I owned worked well for the time being... until they died (prematurely IMHO).

It's a great product! Read why it is NOT a bad one.
For every product I need to buy on Amazon, I just can't decide because of the poor ratings. I need to go through all the 1 stars to figure out the product's 'true' reliability rating. For instance, for this product a few buyers say, 'my HDMI connection is not working', so 1 star. This is a Thunderbolt adapter, not a HDMI adapter and the maker is offering a life time warranty on it. If a product is defective, which is not unusual for any purchase, ask for a replacement. I do know it is a hassle.I have been buying from Amazon since about 1995 and I have also given 1 star(s), but only when the product was faulty, followed by an unprofessional seller. So many video games get 1 star(s) because of a 'non-game' issue, e.g. 'it did not install', 'my display is not working', so 1 star and the game is reviewed junk. It's almost impossible that one 'never' got to play the game. Why not save your review until you find that it really is junk.Amazon should have a category system for reviews. It will make life easier for the buyer and the seller and filter out the so very many negative star reviews made by uneducated buyers.I'm going to give this product 5 stars because it converts a thunderbolt signal to a DP signal flawlessly.I don't represent the seller.

Doesn't work with an early 2013 Macbook Pro w/retina display & BootCamp Windows 10
Update:Seller reached out to me promptly after I posted a review about this cable not working with MacBook Pro. Seller sent replacement cable for free. They thought it was a defective cable. Replacement cable allowed me to output video to my monitor but the resolution was less than 4K. The cable they sent did work @ 4K on another laptop. I believe the issue is with the OS or driver since it doesn't work at 4K in Windows 10 in BootCamp but does work in Mac OS X.--------Found out the hard way this cable doesn't work with an early 2013 Macbook Pro w/retina display because the Thunderbolt ports are first generation. Cable works fine on another laptop. Really needed this to work with a 4k monitor and my MacBook. Found a way to make it work with an HDMI cable.

Mac mini to LG 34UM65 ultrawide monitor connection
This cable was the solution to the problem I was having; being unable to view the correct resolution, between my 2012 Mac mini running Yosemite to my LG 34UM65 ultrawide monitor. When using a HDMI connection the display would not recognize the 2560 x 1080 resolution, however when I used the Cable Matters Mini Display Port connection on the mini, and the display port connector on the back of the monitor - it worked! I now have a solid, glitch-free connection between the mini and the ultrawide in 2650 x 1080 (the highest resolution possible for this monitor).I'm delighted this cable fixed the issue I was having and would buy another one if the need arose, although it worked as expected and feels of good quality so my expectations are that purchase won't be needed anytime soon.I have no reservations about recommending this cable to others who desire a high quality, yet inexpensive display port cable.

End of cable became separated and yanked out of the cable!
UPDATE 8/30/2017: Amazing customer service by Cable Matters so I am changing my review to 4 stars. I'm still disappointed that the cable came apart but they were super awesome about sending a replacement and they informed me about the LIFETIME replacement warranty on their cables. Very impressed that they stand behind their products like this!Cable was working fine but one day I tilted my iMac back (all iMacs are on pivoting stands) and the tip of the cable separated from the cable itself! Pretty crazy, not like there was a lot of force on this thing or much tension. See attached picture. Not sure if I should re-order a replacement or not though given how fragile this cable seems to be.

Something wrong
The cable looks good. But it has some measurable issues in my configuration (Mac Mini + Dell U2410F).Pros:+ High quality MiniDP-DP video connection.+ Thick cable.Cons:- Frequently the sound goes off for a moment during the work.- After some switching actions between HDMI and DP the sound from Mac Mini through this cable goes lost and nothing helps until reboot. (UPD: Works good after replacement.)- Both of cable plugs are loose.- DP plug is hard to unplug if the socket is near a flat surface.Verdict: Not recommended for video+audio signal.UPDATED on 2013-11-11:I've received a replacement from Cable Matters. Several days of testing show that HDMI-DP switching issue is gone but some sound lack moments still present. I don't know the reason. May be the issue is in Dell monitor. So I've change the rate to 4 stars.

Works as advertised and much cheaper than official version
I had problems with my version of Mac OS and my 2560x1440 monitor. I had to perform the lengthy process of updating to the latest OS version.Prior to this, connecting the lead to my Thunderport and to the monitor would make my Macbook throw a Panic attack - literally! (Kernel Panic alert).Once upgraded, the problem was solved, but it took a long time and wasn't out of the box solution. The lead gets 5 Stars, Apple's MacOS and the whole experience (of simply getting a "plug 'n play" lead) 3 stars...

eXcellent
Can't fault it - does exactly what it says on the tin.I just bought a new iMac with "Thunderbolt 2" connectors (nobody else seems to call them that, other than Apple - not even their own support staff in Ireland BTW), but after a bit of research, I discovered that it's sometimes referred to as a mini-DVI / mini display port.Bottom line, is I took a chance on this, and am delighted with the result. My 22" HP monitor is now daisy-chained with the main display on the iMac.

Why not
Very very good and most importantly convenient. No more messing about with mini display port adapters for the Macbook Pro. I have a Dell IPS U2412M that I use with my Macbook Pro... and it works like a charm. I cannot claim that I notice any difference in picture quality but it is obviously way better than the VGA conversation that happens with the mini display port to VGA adapter. It's cheap, it's gold plated and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Buy one.

Great Cable
I bought a new monitor to help with editing photographs on my Mac, and then started to look at the best way on which to connect the monitor, as with most they all have the standard HDMI and DVI connections, but as the Mac uses the mini display port I opted for that connection, and I haven't been disappointed, so if you are looking for a monitor for your MacBook, take a look at the Asus range and buy this cable.

Works great with Mac Book Pro Yosemite and AOC Q2770
Excellent cable, worked first time with my 15" Mac Book Pro and AOC Q2770 monitor giving me these max resolution available at 2560x1440. I had to endure some trials and tribulations by, wrongly, purchasing HDMI and DVI cables and attempting system tweaks on Yosemite which didn't allow the maximum resolution. ThiThis cable, as I said, worked first time. Highly recommended.
