SHARPR959SLMAA Combination Microwave Oven, 40 Litre capacity, 900W, Silver

This is an exact replacement to one I've had for years and used on a daily basis both microwave and the conventional oven so even if I only get half the time with this one I'll be happy. As for delivery and pice both were excellent 😁😁😁

This is only the 3rd one of these ovens/microwaves we have had in 30 years. They are absolutely excellent, versatile and indispensable.

This unit is very useful. It works as a Microwave for heating up everyday food. It's also a fully fledged oven. It comes with a rectangular tray and also 2 wired platforms. This is ideal for when you are entertaining and need another oven. One other added benefit is that it has a grill function so browning a bit of brown sugar on a crème brulé is easy to do. It's a sort of swiss army knife of kitchen gadgets. Very handy as I use it everyday.

3rd combi microwave bought and replacement for the same model this time. We looked for a newer almost equivalent model but nothing matched up in multiple stores. Priority combi microwave with large size. This is 40 litre. Nearest found with other makes/models were only 32 litres. Old one was always reliable. Problem was I mistakenly put a ready meal on microwave instead of convection! I only just stopped the machine before any flames. Despite giving it a lengthy thorough clean and allowing time for the smell to clear, it was never quite the same. A costly mistake but we are now very pleased this model was still available so happy buyers!

I had the Sharp R5959SLMA combi microwave oven for 6 years and then it died so I bought this as a replacement from Amazon. I agree with other reviewers that it is a different machine in many aspects to the Sharp model this replaced. This model has an extra A as part of the model number as my old one was A, not AA.I considered many other brands of combi microwave, visiting countless stores to actually see them. I did not care about budget, as long as I could get the capacity and the functions I needed as I mostly use it in oven mode, but still needed combi functions for when I am juggling three different meals at once, for my tribe.I found that most other machines relied way too much on microwave power to cook, which I did not want. Most others despite being more expensive, were way too small in capacity and for the price, did not impress me at all.I decided it had to be this one as overall, it ticks all the boxes. I considered buying it via other retailers but I have found Amazon's customer service when returning products to be excellent and the delivery on Prime was next day, unlike other retailers where I would have had to wait days on end for delivery. I also bought the Amazon 3 year guarantee.It sounds different in operation and I agree with others that there is a weird buzzing sound when using microwave.I also do not like the new trays and wish i had kept the stainless steel rungs from my expired model and tend to use the high rack and the turntable instead as they are awkward to handle when hot. The turntable is not the same as the previous model, not as heavy but that is ok for me with fibromyalgia.On the positive side; this one is 60ltrs and during the uk heatwave, has been a lifesaver to use, rather than my dual oven. It cooks just as efficiently as my previous Sharp. I use the oven feature a lot and often use the automatic preset modes for ready meals or chips or jacket potatoes. I sometimes use the microwave for fish and defrosting food and reheating.Even with its minor faults in hardware quality, this Sharp R959SLMAA is still the best option for me to cope with the menu for my "mini hotel" of 5 adults and one child under 5, plus guests at any given time, not forgetting 8 pampered cats who I cook meat and fish for daily too. I use a halogen oven, a multi-cooker, Instant Pot and a steamer, plus an electric hob and my regular oven and grill so that I am not overworking the Sharp and other appliances.I have waited a few months of use before writing this review to give it a fair chance as I really love the capacity and functions of this machine and hope that whoever manufactures this gem never discontinues it as the functions, performance and ease of operation and capacity are still outstanding, even compared to other brands latest models with ever new technology, I still prefer how this machine operates as it is so comprehensive and not just for those who mainly only have time to rely on ready meals, not cooking from scratch, as I do. It does both !Since writing this review above the door has dropped and let out steam and it took 2 months and a replacement which blew out all our electrics and failed to operate ! Amazon have since refunded me but the whole issue was lengthy process to get a refund. This is not like the old Sharp it is poorly built and inferior !

I LOVE this combi microwave!I'm now on my 3rd one - the previous 2 lasted in EXCESS of 10 years a piece and got absolutely hammered when used in all modes on a daily basis at home! Given that it has a massive 40 litre capacity, it's definitely reduced the need to turn on the electricity-guzzling ovens on my range - it uses about ½ the amount of power!!! Really useful on festive occasions or when cooking for loads of people as obviously it give me a very handy 3rd oven in the kitchen....It's great to see that Sharp (unlike other manufacturers) have stuck to the old adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".......... Apart from now supplying full-width enamel-coated "baking" trays rather than the wire shelves my older units had, and increasing the microwave wattage from 800 to 900, nothing has changed on this absolute workhorse - it still includes the all-important circular wire racks for the turntable to aid grilling as well, and they haven't screwed around with the very easy-to-use control panel either!I've got no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this to anyone, whether you be single or a large family, it's worth every single penny!!!!
