Useful Bit of Kit
I'm a wedding videographer and needed something that was more portable than my big tripod. Ordered this and it's been really good. Seems sturdy while being lightweight and is great for moving around a room easily.Fluid head is useful and smooth. The only criticism is that if you use a heavier camcorder or camera, there is a small amount of movement when the three legs are out - this is handy for movement but if you leave the camera in place it can seem a bit precarious and is prone to floor vibration. That said, the footage didn't reflect any unwanted movement and it hasn't fallen over yet!Over all, this is a great device and fits well between using a tripod and a gimbal.

Great as a spare or back up for any quick usage
Bought one of these for my second camera when I went to film a wedding abroad last year and now stays in the boot of my car just in case I need it.Well built for the price and so easy to move around and I ended up using it for my main camera as I was filming solo and it was much easier to move around than my main tripod.Wont take the place of my main tripod for filming sports, but a good bit of kit to have if you do a lot of filming and imagine would be ideal for still photography too.

Solid built monopod with fluid head, too bulky and heavy, difficult to use, cannot adjust features
This Neewer monopod arrived in a cardboard box. Inside was the monopod, the arm and handle, 3 Hex keys, and an instruction leaflet. All these were inside a black material carry bag which had an adjustable shoulder strap and also a carrying handle. Inside the carry bag was a small zipped pocket which contained the Hex keys and instruction leaflet. The first thing I noticed was how large and heavy the monopod was, certainly too bulky and heavy to be portable enough for my travels.I shall start the description from the feet and work upwards. There are 3 feet which open outwards to give extra stability, or you can use the monopod with the feet folded upwards. The feet can be in 3 positions – folded up, partially extended where the tips of the feet touch the ground, and fully extended where the whole feet touch the ground. There is a red button to press down to adjust the position of the feet, but this button was so difficult to press that I hurt my hand trying to press it. When the feet are fully extended, you can put your foot on one of the feet for extra stability, but I found this simply tilts the whole monopod slightly towards you causing the monopod to be at an angle. With the feet extended, the monopod can stand upright on its own providing there is no wind and the ground is perfectly level like a pavement. I found that despite having the feet, the monopod is still unstable due to the top of the monopod (the head and arm) being so heavy, that it makes the monopod top-heavy and has a tendency to wobble which is not good if it falls over. The monopod is made from thick, solid, and sturdy metal which is good, however, this means the monopod is bulky and heavy. The monopod could take some punishment due to the solid construction, but don’t expect this to be a light portable travel monopod – this monopod is designed not to be taken far.On the shaft at the base, there is a swivel lock that allows you to move the monopod closer to the ground whilst the feet are still extended. It also allows the monopod to swivel with the feet on the ground, but I found this defeats the purpose of having a monopod, as I want a monopod that is stable and does not swivel. There are 4 plastic locks on the lower shaft which when unlocked, allows you to extend the monopod to any height you wish. I only unlocked 3 of the locks and the height was fine for me. I found the taller the monopod becomes, the more unstable it gets. When the monopod is fully reduced, it is fully stable on the ground with the feet open. However, if you extended the monopod to head height, it becomes wobbly and unstable even with the feet open, which means in windy conditions or on uneven ground, you have to hold the monopod to make sure it does not fall over. There is a black foam grip at the top of the shaft where you can comfortable hold the monopod whilst in operation. The head is very large and bulky. It has a fluid head which is great for video recording, but a poor counterbalance system. There is a knob to lock and unlock the tilt movement of the head, and another knob to lock and unlock the pan movement of the head. There is no feature to change the amount of pressure you put onto the arm to move the head. The tilt and pan movement is either locked or unlocked, there is nothing inbetween. The knobs are large and you can get a good grip on them. With the pan movement, you can stop moving the arm and the head will stay perfectly still. However with the tilt function, if you stop moving the arm, the head will move itself to a natural position – the head will not stay where you want it. This means you have to constantly apply pressure to the arm to stop the head tilting back to its natural position. The head had a counterbalance system, but you cannot adjust or control this counterbalance system which is bad. When moving the head either to pan or tilt, the movement is incredibly stiff and you have to apply a great deal of pressure on the arm to move the head. There is a large amount of resistance when you are trying to move the arm and head, and I found trying to move such a stiff head causes the entire monopod to wobble. It is not easy to pan or tilt and it was difficult to record a video whilst trying to move the head. I would have liked to adjust the amount of pressure needed to pan or tilt, and be able to adjust the counterbalance system. The arm is long with a black rubber handle which felt comfortable. The arm can be positioned on either side which is good. However, the arm is not straight and it is angled inwards towards you, which makes moving the arm difficult. I would have preferred a straight arm to make it easier to record. The plate at the top that the camcorder or camera rests on is huge, and perhaps too large. When I attached my camcorder, the plate blocked the release button for the battery, so I was not able to change the battery unless I completely took off the plate, unscrewed the camcorder from the plate, and then changed the battery. This is not good if I am in the middle of recording. The plate is also difficult and slow to remove. There is a knob which when you turn, allows you to slide the plate backwards and forwards. However you then need to press a button in order to actually remove the plate from the head. There is no quick way to remove the plate, and it is a two-step process. Once the plate is removed, it can only fit back onto the head one way, and it is easy to forget which way it fits on. There is a small Hex key built into the plate to fix the attachment screw onto the camcorder / camera, and it would have been easier if the attachment screw could be turned by hand instead of using a Hex key which is fiddly and time consuming.Good:-Solid and sturdy monopod with thick strong metal construction.3 feet at base for extra stability.Extends to a large height.Has a comfortable foam grip on the shaft.Head has a fluid movement for videos.Has a counterbalance system for pan and tilt movement.Large head to attach large camcorder / camera.Long comfortable arm and rubber handle.Comes with a carry bag with shoulder strap.Bad:-Very bulky and heavy, not designed for portable travel.Difficult to open and close feet.Feet not large enough to make monopod stable due to top-heavy head.Monopod unstable and wobbly when fully extended.Counterbalance system cannot be adjusted or controlled.Pan and tilt movement incredibly stiff and slow, making monopod wobble. No way to adjust amount of pressure when moving head during recording.Difficult and slow removing plate on head.Plate too large and can block access to camcorder / camera.Arm angled inwards making it more difficult to use.
