Can you program a single channel button e.g. "1" with a three-figure Sky remote number e.g. "101" or is it limited to one number?

It seems to be limited to one number. I also thought that I would be able to programme a two, or three channel  number from, say, button number one but my attempts to do that have failed. In my case, I wanted to programme the four HD channels on Freeview for my elderly mother, for a better picture. I have yet to find a remote that will do that sort of thing and I have bought three remotes to date !

Question 2

Can you program buttons A and B to do what you want?  Could it take you to menu on tv or does it have to switch between devices?

The a & b buttons only swop between devices. Because it is easy to press the a & b buttons and my remote is only used for one device I have programmed both a & b to the control the same tv

I want this for my elderly mother but it is to work a grundig freesat box.  will it do that?

Providing you have the original remote it will, as you must programme this button by button from original remote. As said already its great for basic functions. I got it for my elderly Dad and its the best thing I ever got. Vol and channel up/down,and numbers. No more getting stuck in menus/text etc and not knowing how to exit from them, however it is possible to programme any button to any function so you could use it for advanced functions,plus its programable for two devices.

how do i programme it to work a hitachi tv for person with dementia

The instructions are not the easiest. Remember that you have to programme all of the buttons including the on off ones.So:-Point this controller at the one you want to replace press A and the down button until the light comes on. Press the button you want to programme on this one and then the button on the old one. The light on the new one will then flash 3 times. Keep doing this for each button. If you want it to control another TV do the same with the B button.When you want to use it you have to press A then the on/off button or B then the on off button to switch on and the reverse to turn off.It took me a couple of attempts with some of the buttons.Whether it is suitable for someone with dementia I do not know but if they do not need to change channels or use only a restricted range you do not need to programme all the buttons in fact you can programme any button for anything. I don't use the bottom two right and left so I used them to turn lights on and off.
