This film uses a mix of 3D model and 2D animation to tell the story of Christ through the eyes of a child. In ancient Israel, young Tamar (voiced by Rebecca Callard) meets Jesus (Ralph Fiennes), a carpenter, whose ability to perform miracles and teachings on God draw a band of loyal followers around him. As Jesus' popularity grows, he comes to challenge the authority of the established Judaic religious leaders, who begin to plot his downfall. A distinguished voice cast includes Richard E. Grant as John the Baptist, plus the late Bob Peck and Daniel Massey in their final roles. Review: Wonderful retelling of Jesus' story - Wonderful film, especially for helping children understand the gravity of Good Friday - my 8 and 10 year old were upset by the crucifixion, but it is presented really well and isn't too graphic, certainly suitable for those ages. We were all in tears watching it, but in the best possible way. Review: Well scripted and well designed - Good story telling

Faithful and moving
This is such a beautiful film. It is faithful to the Biblcal text and very accessible, particularly as you are, in a sense, seeing Jesus through the eyes of the young girl in the film. It is ideal for primary RE but it stands alone as a moving, well made piece of cinema. The animation is stunning and I really llike how they have used different animation types to represent the straight narrative and the flashbacks.

Useful around Easter time
Generally a good film, although very confusing for my daughter as the story changes from present to future frequently and I had to explain what was going on as she did not understand the story line. It seemed rather disjointed as times. My daughter hasn't asked to watch this again so I can't remember what else I thought of it.

Superb
I am not ken on cartoons or any kind of wallis and grommet type graphic movies as a first choice for viewing , so I bought this cos it had good reviews for my grandchildren. It's absolutely brilliant. Riveting viewing , for adults and children. It's thoughtfully done with a lot of apparent historic detail and not sure how accurate but looked it. It tackles the subject matter in a slightly different we. Eg the carpenters complaining about Jesus leaving his work as a carpenter and they are not sure why. Quite delightful. Have not watched the end yet though too busy!!
