Civil War TPB

I found myself engrossed in the book from start to finish. My son who is too young to contemplate looking at the book, let alone read it, picks it up at any given opportunity. I've asked him to refrain from doing so, but he is relenting. Looks like we've started our own CIVIL WAR. After the traditional Good hero vs Bad villain, format has been exhausted, one always imagines good guy pitted vs good guy, and what the outcome would be. The argument of who would be victor rages. Well, Mark Millar's brought this question to the forefront, and while not answering it fully, has been brave enough to put in the public forum. It' important to note that this book is not the end, it really is the early stages of the journey. I started the book with an open mind and really didn't now what to expect. It is skilfully written and manages to keep you in suspense throughout. The story is quite profound and manages to look deeply into the personalities of all our heroes from Iron Man to Spiderman while introducing us relatively unknown ones too. So without giving too much away what happens ? There's a disaster involving a new group of superheroes and the Gov't have no choice, but to introduce a register for Superheroes to root out the 'good from the bad'. This charter is embraced by most of our heroes, but some object and it is the cause of consternation for some and eventually conflict. The smoke has risen and this is the new stage – let battle commence. Essentially it becomes 'Iron Man' leading from one side vs Captain America on the other side, and their relative heroes supporting them. I used to read the original Marvel Comics more than 30 years ago but hadn't read them for a long period. However, my interest was aroused after attending a comic convention a few years ago, by chance in London. My nephews then requested me to read 'Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe' and 'Civil War: The Road To Civil War' which I did. I loved both and needless to say my love is now re-established. This artwork by Steven McNiven is beautiful, uplifting and totally inspiring. The graphic nature is clearly highlighted and brought to the forefront. Every expression can be noted and the mood felt from the characters as they tussle with one another. Just one word of warning to those who have watched the film, but not read the book, the plot is very different. I don't want to say too much and spoil the story. Fantastic value at £ 8.49, and I will look to purchase other books in the series soon. And of course, I will be passing this down to my son, when he is old enough to read it. Fabulous superhuman saga with opposing philosophies & conflicting ideals. Interesting how good people with the best of intentions - who just so happen to be meta human - can make such terrible choices. Great storytelling, artwork & inking.

The artwork was fantastic and the story was for the most part very good. But the ending was however a let down that left me feeling a bit cheated out. Basically, after an accident involving teenage superheroes, the government want all super powered individuals to register so that they can be kept track of. Most heroes seems to be ok with this and are led by Iron Man, but alot of them dont want it to happen and are let by Captain America. Why this was let down by the ending:- The story climaxes with a big all out fight between the two sides. And basically, Captain America stops everyone in the middle of the fight and completely surrenders for no apparent reason, and everyone on his side go along with this and therefore they lose. And that, is the end of the story. EVERYONE who disagrees with the Super Human Registration loses simply because Captain America 'says so' And his reason... 'we are no longer fighting for the people, we are simply fighting' And that is literally the end of it, which seems completely rushed and completely ruins an otherwise very good storyline.

It starts with a catastrophe that rocked the world. It ends with the fight that will change it forever. Civil war is outstanding from beginning to end. The artwork was very good , especially the panels with The Punisher on them. Everything is moved at a lightning pace without giving the sense that it has been rushed. The story is interesting as it shows where character loyalties lie, as close friends become enemies end and families up fighting against each other. It shows just how far people are willing to go to stand up for what they believe in, even if it means hurting their friends. Mark Millar is one of my favourite Graphic novel writers, and Civil War reminded me why. I read this in a matter of hours, not because it was too short (far from it), just that I couldn't physically put it down. A must have for any true Marvel fan.

Came to this trade paperback as many of you reading this will; a complete philistine of the comic book world looking for the basis of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film. As a complete newcomer to the genre with just the MCU behind my belt I had no problems getting to grips with the characters, their dynamics and enjoying the rich, deep world they all inhabit. Again, I can't compare to the 'greats' of the genre, but as a casual superhero fan I loved the artwork, story and was really struck by some of the cliffhangers. I bought this gem for £5 and if it's still at this really low price I can't recommend you buy it fast enough.

I heard nothing short of stellar reviews of Civil War and wasted no time in buying myself a copy. Even though I could have borrowed my brother's copy, I just needed one for myself. Mark Millar's work is excellent throughout and it had one of the best stories I have read in any Avengers comic and I have read hundreds of them by now! This contained a high number of Marvel heavy hitters including the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. What I like about Marvel's big events is that they contain a seismic event which somehow warrants the appearance of several characters. That is just one aspect of Civil War that I really enjoyed. The fact that good guys went up against other good guys was another facet of Civil War that proved too enticing.

A super powered battle in Stamford has resulted in several 100 deaths and the political cowards in the US quickly sign in to law The Super human Registration Act.(SRA) All heroes must work for the government and reveal there identity or face arrest. Captain America and his friend reject the law and decide to fight the US government and Shield, Stark ,Reed Richards and his cronies hate the law too But have too much to lose so they go along with it. What follows is a series of arguments and brawls between former best friends on opposite side of a moral quandary. I highly recommend this book . May require some of the build up,tie ins to make some sense of it all to noobs

The Marvel movies made a big impact to the film industry. Following the last Avengers: Age of Ultron and Antman, the next release will be Captain America: Civil War. The movie will be based on this graphic novel. [Possible spoliers - read at own risk] The story is written by Mark Millar and the main artist for the book is Steven McNiven; there is a list of other artists who were involved with the inking and colouring as well. I will try and not give away as much of the book as possible, but the graphic novel tells the story of the division between Marvel Universe's Superheroes fighting over the protection of their identity. The 2 main characters are Ironman and Captain America and you will get to see some of the more obscure characters like Spiderwoman. Storyline is probably one of my favourite as well as you genuinely don't know what will happen next. Usual Marvel comic (any kind of books with villians to be honest) it's good guys vs bad guys, however this is not the case. In terms of visual, the team did a fantastic job every page stands out, you can take some good inspiration from them and it makes you want to read it over and over again. If you want to read the comic before going to see the next Captain America movie, then this is the book to read.
