Every time we went to the library or went to a book store and saw this book, it was so beautiful that my daughters would always stop to look at it, so recently I bought this for my harry potter mad youngest's birthday. It is a gorgeous book- the unabridged original story with detailed illustrations on every page. It's so magical being able to see the characters described in the book really come alive, and in my youngest's opinion, every illustration looks "right" for their descriptions in the book. The illustrations sometimes span one page, two pages, or are just interwoven with the text seamlessly to make for a great reading experience. Since the pages are much bigger and words larger than a traditional novel, it also makes it less daunting and more readable for younger, perhaps more reluctant readers as well. Having read the original un-illustrated version, re-reading this again with the illustrations gives a whole new feeling to the story. Whether your a long-term fan, or new one, this is a great must-buy, definitely worth every penny in comparison to the non-illustrated version.

I've been a Harry Potter fan since I was ten years old. I have to admit that I am now thirty-two, I have a big beard, I've played drums in multiple heavy metal bands and I now have three children. So to paint a picture, I'm a bit of a hefty bearded metaller with little mini-me's causing havoc wherever we go but one thing will always stick with me and that is Harry Potter. It's such an escape. I have the books wherever I am. On my Kindle or on audible. The films I am exactly the same with, I've got then in Google play from the digital codes and also on Amazon Prime. I love the books and I listen/read them about two or three times a year. The illustrated versions are absolutely next level. There's the fantastic story by JK Rowling that we all so love but accompanied by these illustrations from this wonderful artist and they are beautiful. To elevate them even more is this digital version of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone where the illustrations are animated. An amazing achievement especially as it coincides with the magical concept in the books of moving images. I highly recommend this book and I am still waiting on a digital copy of the illustrated versions of the rest of them (even though I have them all in hardback). As soon as they are released I am on them like a fly on... Well... You get the idea.

Great book with great illustrations from a master.

As soon as I saw images of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: Illustrated Edition I knew I had to have it, as a huge fan of the series and someone who already owns several print versions as well as the ebook of each Harry Potter story there was no way I could miss out on this beautiful new edition. There is absolutely no point in me writing another review of the story (you can read my original one HERE) because I'm pretty sure that most of the people who are going to be looking at buying this book are already going to be Harry Potter fans so instead I'm going to focus on the quality of the book and the illustrations. To put it simply this book is STUNNING. I had high expectations but was totally blown away by how beautiful this book is, it brings back the magical feeling of reading Harry Potter for the first time and I think it's definitely a perfect edition to read with children. Jim Kay has done a fantastic job of giving new life to the characters, he's managed to make them his own (which must have been quite hard to do considering how well everyone knows the actors from the movies) while still making them instantly recognisable. The book itself is a lot larger than I expected and has me wondering if they'll have to publish the later books in more than one edition. The quality is brilliant with lovely glossy pages and gorgeous illustrated end pages. This is the kind of book that you want to treasure and it would make a perfect gift for any Harry Potter fan. I can't wait to see the illustrated editions of the rest of the series and will definitely be purchasing them as soon as they're published.

Definitely happy with the quality of this book. My kids are 7 and we are reading the Harry Potter books before we introduce them to the movie. The illustrated versions are definitely key to have for the younger generations. However, as an adult, I do appreciate them as well. Will be purchasing the rest of the books. While I was shopping for these I did notice that they did sell them as sets. However, upon further Inspection. I notice that if you purchase the book separately, you save money, the only thing that you don't get is the box for the collection. I can live without a box. Happy with my purchase.Looking forward to purchasing the other books.

Sin duda vale la pena cada euro que se paga por esta versión. Es maravillosa. Estoy deseando leer las siguientes, los,dibujos añaden un extra impagable.

Premessa: amo Harry Potter in maniera viscerale, ma non sono mai stata la tipa che compra gadget o prende tutte le edizioni che sono state pubblicate...a me bastava avere la mia collezione versione classica, con copertina e traduzione storiche. Da sempre, però, avevo il pallino di leggere HP in lingua originale, e non appena ho sentito della prossima uscita di questa edizione, ho subito deciso che sarebbe stata mia. C'è stato qualche problema di percorso: pur avendolo preordinato un mese prima, il libro è risultato dal giorno di uscita non disponibile (che il numero dei preordini sia stato talmente alto da essere esaurito prima ancora della sua uscita?), quindi ho dovuto aspettare un po' più del dovuto per averlo. Ma quando stamattina ha bussato il corriere...mi sono quasi sentita come 13 anni fa, quando presi il primo libro tra le mani per la primissima volta. Non pensavo che a 27 anni suonati avrei potuto rivivere le stesse emozioni di allora: ma questo splendido, elegante volume, è stato capace di operare questa magia. Ho dato appena una prima lettura e una sfogliata veloce, ma sono rimasta già incantata da questa edizione, che credo sia la migliore pubblicata fino ad oggi; la qualità è altissima: la carta è spessa e lucida, e ci sono illustrazioni meravigliose - ma soprattutto fedeli - in ogni pagina...considerato che solitamente non leggo in inglese, l'ho trovato pure piuttosto semplice e scorrevole (o sarà perchè conosco le battute in italiano a memoria? xD). Visto il prezzo nemmeno tanto eccessivo, credo davvero che questo volume sia immancabile nella collezione di un vero Potterhead. Grazie Jim Kay per questo splendido lavoro, e grazie - come sempre - a JKRowling che ha creato questa magia capace di operare attraverso tutti questi anni.
