Q: how is it set up and dismantled?

The main chassis folds flat in one movement. The wheels just push on to the spindle with a removable split pin to hold them in place. An additional support leg folds out from the main chassis to allow it to stand upright making it easier to place your kayak on. The only thing you need to do is fit the wheels. Hope this helps.

Q: is it suitable for sit on top kayaks

Hi Stephen,I've not used my Andes trolley yet, but it seems well built for the cost. I'll be using mine for an open canoe, but I can't see why it would not be suitable for a sit-on-top kayak. In both cases I expect it will be necessary to use a few bungees to lash the boat to the trolley, otherwise they will keep parting company as you move along!!I'm sure you already know, but you can get special trolleys for sit-on-top kayaks. They have upright frame elements that interlock through the drain holes of the kayak hull.Cheers.

Yes your kayak sits above the wheels on the frame

Q: can this be used for a dinghy

Possibly a small lightweight dinghy-I use mine for a 14' kayak and it's fine and the kayak weighs around 68lbs.
