Easy to use Linux book
I needed to use Linex for thye first time in years so was very rusty. I needed a book that could bring me upto speed in a weekend and this book did the trick. Lots of examples and help. How to dual boot with windows and the fundementals of getting to grips with Linux which is a great free OS. I grew up with Unix and found it very easy to get back into. If you are fed up with Winows or just want to have a look at Linux and try some programming this book will get you started quite quickly. The other thing to note is that Linux runs so much faster than Winows on any given machine and has decent software libraries and supports mots modern hardware so it can give you a good stable system for very little outlay. Everyone should try t.

Good for newbies
I'm a recent convert to Ubuntu and while it does have a gui I'm trying hard to not use it in a similar manner to windoze and work from the terminal. There is lots of info on the web, the Ubuntu forums are very friendly and welcoming but as a total noob even some of the explanations assume at least some prior knowledge so for me at least it's been a little bit hit and miss. This book however assumes you have little to no experience - great news, it not only explains commands in easy to understand English it has practical examples as well and has a reasonably linear learning curve. If you are totally new to Linux this is an excellent place to start and I highly recommend it.

Interesting, a good starting point
Focusses on Ubuntu. I didnt care for the GUI part of the book but last few chapters covers CLI, which is handy.
