Good running train. Nice design
Good running train. Nice design. First one was faulty, the rods buckled and jammed on one side. Replacement sent works great still running after a lot of use.

Basic but fine built. Electronics need improvements in function mapping
Not the best decoder I have but overall a diy-able loco. Basic in detailing too but built well. The audio functions are more than most available and prototypical in this price range but the function mapping to movement deserves a lot of improvement. For example, I’d love to see the loco brake prototypically when I hit the brake sound function and not just the braking sound with the loco continuing on its journey

slight problem with the sound locomotive Flying Scosman
Great value for the money, only problem being that on startup the loco sort of judders at the start, but soon picks up. Slight delay from command the loco actually moving. I also noticed that when you reduce the speed, there is a momentary as the sound stops, but regains sound. Other than those points, I am happy with it.

A1 or A3
It arrived late this afternoon. Looks gorgeous. However the 'Flying Scotsman' named engine (60103 according to my 1957 abc Ian Allan book on British Locomotive) was an A3 class not A1. Does Hornby know somethig I don't? I know they moved name plates of engines around but A3s were introduced in 1927 and A1s in 1945.

Christmas Joy!
Brilliant! The joy on his face was the picture of Christmas! His reaction when the sound of coal shovelling was heard followed by the toot toot as the train started followed by slow but progressively faster motion of the steam train as it moves left my little boy speechless! A Christmas memory the I will never forget and according to him: "my best present ever!"Jorge

powerfull DCC with sound
This engine runs well and the sounds are good, plus it will pull eight pullman coaches at a good speed, also as it is DCC can be left to run on its own while I move other engines around. I find this a very satisfying addition.
