Excellent solo war game
This is a quick to learn and very portable solo war game that I highly recommend. I have had a lot of fun taking the book to a coffee shop, bring some dice and play for a few hours.

Hop in that tank and pray for the best!
Another winner for Lambo. There are 25 pages of rules, but Mike Lambo has a brilliant way of explaining his games so they are easy and accessible. I was set up and ready to play after one read through. There are a lot of decisions to make each turn, making me feel in control of my tank even though there is still an element of randomness due to dice rolls. This game is a whole lot of fun and challenging. The enemy tank operations make the AI seem intelligent (and determined to destroy that little Sherman). This is, in my opinion, Lambo's most ambitious game in his ever-growing collection. A very satisfying experience.

Fast, Frantic, Fun!
Lone Sherman is easy to learn but challenging to master. As the name implies, the player commands a lone Sherman trapped in enemy territory. Victory points for each scenario include destroying specified enemy units and exiting the maps via a specified hex. The Sherman is outnumbered and outgunned from the beginning of each scenario. There's no turn limit but the longer it takes to achieve the objectives the more likely additional enemy forces will appear or random events will add challenges for the Sherman crew. Tempo and maneuver are the name of the game. It's not easy to win but the narrative builds tension and keeps the player on the edge from the beginning making wins all the more satisfying. Quick to set up and fast to play. Great fun.

Simply perfect
Exactly what I was looking for. A great ww2 tank game I can get into fast and not have to hire an accountant to make sure I'm not breaking zillions of rules and exceptions. Mike has mastered the ability to write clear and concise rules

A LOT IN A LITTLE PACKAGE
This game manages to give you a real sense of operating a tank against savvy AI enemies in a compact, highly re-playable format. If you're looking for deep historical accuracy, go get a $75 simulation board game. Lone Sherman gives you the feel of WW2 tank warfare without frustrating complexity and minute bookkeeping, and you can play a game to a satisfying conclusion in 30 minutes or less. While I may not be a tank ace after playing, I have learned how to lose more gracefully (dang, it's easy to die in war) and to think more tactically. Lot of game for the $ and you feel GREAT when you pull off a win, as your smoking wreck of a Sherman wheels off the map just in time.

Don't be fooled by the easy ruleset.
There is a level of depth usually not found with rules this easy to learn. It's no ASL, but it's far from the disappointment called Stratego. If you have a genre you like, and Mike makes a game fitting into it, but that game. Mike's doing an amazing job with these books.
