I know you can sync two of these speakers together but can you place them in different rooms and them still stay synced and play?

It says in the instructions that they can only be a few metres apart but we have put them on oposite sides of the room and they have been fine. We have also put one inside and one outside a patio door and that was fine. I'm not sure but I imagine through a wall would be too much for it.

is this compatible with the newer sony XB10 version?

Hi, No its not compatible. the SRS-X11 and SRS-BX10 speakers are only compatible with speakers from the same model in order to produce Stereo sound.

What is the maximum volume of this speaker in db please?

This all I know below. I love the sound good quality, but I don't know how loud you want it ... it is plenty for me. The bluetooth range isn't far enough for me so will have to get wifi boosters.Sorry if info no use.
