crystals will fall if you move it after it’s formed
My three year old has so much fun with this! Definitely can make a mess if you try and move it after the crystals are formed so set it wherever you want it to stay!

National Geographic Makes Learning Experiences Fun
When it comes to home experiments, I think National Geographic offers the most successful kid-oriented projects. We’ve made exploding volcanoes, tumbled rocks and broken open geodes—all from this company, and all have been fun learning experiences. This crystal forest may not be the most spectacular of NG kits, but it’s fun and well suited for kids aged six through ten. Directions are straightforward, and must be followed closely to get good results. As with all NG craft kits, adult supervision is highly recommended. Kids use the included markers to color trees; then separate tips to spread out branches. A small amount of crystal liquid is then poured over the very top of trees, and half the liquid in the bottle is poured into the base that holds the tree. Crystals begin to form within 30 minutes, but are fully formed after 6-8 hours. It’s important not to move or touch trees once crystals begin to form. One of the reasons I like NG learning kits is because they produce results that kids are proud to have made, and are usually frustration free experiments. As with all their kits, this one comes with a crystal forest learning guide. Our kids love making these—they’re easy to set up, and visible results can be seen in just a short amount of time.

Fun but...
Very short lived.. messy.. and these don't last long. My kids enjoyed them but likely will not purchase again.. they make a huge mess so they are best suited for older kiddos in my opinion. They crumble at the slightest touch once they are created.. they didn't really keep my kid's attention long after the initial creation.

Kids were amazed
Great activity, easy instructions and I still can’t figure out how this worked. Amazing trees grew over night and the kids couldn’t believe they made them. They were very delicate so take your pictures fast before someone accidentally knocks one over and causes destruction beyond repair with lots of crying.
