A cracking drive & a perfect storage solution for games!!!
A very good price for a well performing HDD. Its fairly quiet and perfect for my games and files. I boot Windows from my SSD and install most of my games on the Seagate. It performs very well and mostly stays silent. Please note that occasionally the drive will make a "Ching" sound. I thought it was faulty till I Googled it and it would seem its normal! 2 Year warranty too so some peace of mind there!

Already its at half capasity!
As I am an amature YouTuber, making 1080p videos I needed something with enough space to tide me over. And this does well, storing all my 1080p videos that I have made in the last few years, aswell as ALL my photos and music (a fair bit really). While a little on the noisey side when it spins up, once it spinning I can mostly ignore it (though my PC case is pretty bad in terms of sound dampening anyway so i might be talking out of my left foot for all I know). Going to use it in my new PC build i august aswell, and hopefully that case will have sufficient anti vibration pads and orings so the drive should be quieter. Overall a good drive, no problems thus far and its in use pretty much everyday for several hours at a time while I am in the "office".

Good, reputable drive for large file programs/backups.
There are a few reputable brands when buying a secondary drive. I'd consider anything from Seagate, Western Digital or Samsung. I've tried all three over the years and they all serve a purpose. Use them to install and back-up larger files that you don't need super fast access to. If that's all you want this for, then I thoroughly recommend it. I have a 2TB and a 1TB version, both are working perfectly fine after 3-4 years. If you're looking for a hard drive to install Windows on, or your favourite online game, then I'd suggest you buy an SSD - which are much more affordable nowadays (especially on Black Friday etc) Then use this drive for the games you play every now and again, or your music/photo library. £ - GB you'll get very good value from this product. But it isn't a performance drive. If you want programs to load faster, you'll need an SSD.

Great reliable hard drives
Having built my own W7 Media Centre a few years ago I installed a Samsung solid state drive for the operating system and the 3tb version of this drive for music, photo and video storage. Been planning to get the Icy Box for a while now that two of these drives will sit in for backup. I have waited too long to back up which is stupid of me but these drives are so reliable, rock solid build and quite that I was tempted into a false sense if security and have utter trust that failure just wouldn't happen. Of course failure can happy with any drive but from my experience I have never had any issues with Seagate and for my money they beat all the competition. One of these will be used to record live TV and again I have no doubt it will manage perfectly well. Although there is a new model out now it is nearly £20 dearer so whether its worth the extra dosh I don't know, but I do know these older models are great. You only get the drive and nothing else, no screws or caddy, not even boxed as just bubble wrapped but packaging is good enough. tj

great hdd
I run my high performance gaming rig with a decent sized sdd. This drive is hooked in as a secondary drive, while last year someone bought me a 4TB seagate 3.0 external storage drive. Both are going strong, because both are seagate drives. Much prefere them over the likes of western digital, which dont last as long and are more expensive imo and the same goes with samsung which is by far inferior to both companies hard drives.. truth is you will need to make up your own mind, and decide what you want. I trust seagate to make very good long lasting error free drives and they have never let me down not even once in all the decades i have used them. in myu view you cant go wrong with this drive. It is small by today's standards, but if you have an older computer that can run sata drives you wont go wrong for the exceptional price.

Seagate 2TB HDD - Great performance at a great price
I have used Seagate hard drives for the past 6 - 8 years now. Not one of them has failed on me or come with any issues such as bad sectors etc. I highly recommend them. Bought the 2Tb version and upgraded from a 1TB seagate Barracuda drive. Plenty of storage and is used part of my gaming PC to go along side my SSD for mass storage. No performance issues and runs at 7200rpm. I am confident that it will last many years similar to my other drives. Going to pick up another 2TB in the next few months.

Best drives.
For people complaining that these drives are noisy. They have no idea what they are talking about. It’s their cheap cases without any Hard Drive Dampeners / Anti-Vibration mounts, that’s the problem and not the drives. Any mechanical hard drive will be noisy if you mount it directly to metal. I have four Seagate drives 2x2 in a RAID-0 configuration and my case is at head height and 2ft away, it has vent holes in the side window and yet all I can hear is a gentle noise from the case fans not the hard drives and that was while I was dumping a large amount of data onto the drives and remember they are in a RAID-0 configuration and two drives are being written to at the same time. I have built several hundred computer systems for customers and I’ve used all makes of drives and the Seagate drives have been the most reliable and I only remember two failing from over 500 plus computer builds. Seagate is always my first choice.

Drive seems ok, no thanks to packaging
Initial thoughts when it arrived were "this is going to be junk". It was packaged with some bubble wrap around the drive, some cardboard taped around than, and then put in one of Amazon's cardboard envelope things. Not really adequate for a hard drive, and I was inclined to send it straight back. The drive itself seems to be fine, and sustains writes at 40-42MB/s (for a 235GB file) in a USB2 enclosure, can't expect much more than that from USB 2 tbh. Shame about the shoddy packaging, hence the 3 star rating. Won't buy from this seller again
