Marvels Funnier Super Hero Flick..!
Set just months after the first Guardians movie, the gang are getting by as heroes for hire, living up to their reputation as troublemakers-turned-galactic saviours! But of course, word travels fast, and when they’re not making more trouble for themselves, trouble is now actively finding them! Saving the universe hasn’t made them any smarter or more pious. If anything, it’s had the opposite effect...This movie is a very fun superhero film. It does not provide us with a very heavy storyline, the premise is quite simple and best of it all, it’s absolutely funny!. My partner and I truly enjoyed this movie as we could’nt stop laughing at several of the scenes and there were even some emotional moments as well which were lovely to watch at the end. I love the chemistry among the Guardians, and I loved Baby Groot's very cute and adorable behavior. I also loved the opening scene which my partner thought was very cool and kept going back to watch again and again. In addition to the brilliant chemistry among the stars, I also felt that Mantis' character was fun to watch, especially whenever she was interacting with Drax. In this sequel, it was also surprising to see Drax' extremely funny side and hilarious comments. Both Yondu and Nebula also had much larger and important roles in this movie compared to Volume 1. There was even a surprise new character played by Sylvester Stallone whom I understand would be having a larger role in future Marvel movies.Apart from those fun interactions and the nice light story, the movie itself was not the type full of action scenes. There were a few spread out through the movie. The sound effects were good, the effects involving Baby Groot and Rocket were awesome, but the CGI effects during the scenes in the Ego planet where looked extremely computerized. One thing that was quite curious for me is the trailer to this movie was already showing Kurt Russel portraying Peter's father, which I thought would be best kept hidden to avoid a major plot spoiler! But then as we continued watching it, I realized that it was more like a part that was supposed to intrigue us.I personally felt that this movie was better than Volume 1, in term of the story, comedy and characterizations. And for those of you who knew that Marvel's movies would have some end credit scenes, better wait till the very end, since this film has got not 1, not 2 not even 3, but 5 post credit scenes altogether! So if you enjoyed the first volume, you will definitely enjoy this one even more. I would recommend you to watch the first one before seeing this one to have a better understanding on the movie. If you are a fan of a much heavier plot based/action based/ morale based superhero movie, than this one may not suit you, but I am confident that you would still be entertained watching this one!

Curate's Egg
An author writes a book on their own. A comic book may have two authors (artist & story-writer). A film requires enormous up-front finance these days, dozens of people, etc. This may explain why "First in the marvellous new series..." feels natural where a book is concerned, but "sequel" in films screams "The first one made money! Quick!! Let's write another & cash in!!!" Despite the fact that GotG is "based on" Marvel Comics superhero characters, this is exactly how these films feel to me. Longish review shortened - GotG1 is decent, 4*; GotG2 is a duff cash-in, 2*. Average that out - 3*.I am NOT a comic book fan. I've read the odd one here & there. Watchmen was damn fine & so was the film. But comic books have mostly passed me by, Marvel superhero stuff entirely so. I've happily escaped the money-making franchise mushroom that has appeared over the past decade or so. But GotG looked like fun, and this pack gives me both so...GotG on film is as shallow as a puddle. If there's any depth to the comic books, it's not shown in either film. Consequently as a non-reader, I'm sure there's back-story & stuff that I'm utterly unaware off. And I can feel it; that things I should know are missing. This is not a good start. For all that, GotG can, I think, be fairly described as an SF action-adventure romp. It's fun but without any depth. Characters are cardboard cut-outs at best, wholly one dimensional if not. It's crash, bang, wallop, knockabout fun with gags & comedy side-kicks. Nothing wrong with that. It's 4*.I don't know what they thought were doing with GotG2. I don't know whether it's actually based on a genuine GotG story, or whether it was written for the film. But it's duff. The plot is dodgy anyway, but then they load 3 sub-plots onto a script that has a dodgy premise & would struggle to support one sub-plot. The chuckles diminish, the SFX are... only what we've seen before, the crash bang wallop keeps getting interrupted with dull philosophising / moralising, "Why do you hate me / why don't you love me / how can you be like this" shizzle that simply doesn't work in the shallow universe we see. Oh, plus it is ENTIRELY predictable. Meh.Let's put it like this - 1 is worth having, 2 isn't really, 3 is currently shelved. And if it becomes unshelved, I won't be taking any interest, given what 2 was like. I can't remember the prices I saw when I added GotG to my Wishlist, but if the price for this pack is close to the price for 1 alone, then buy the pack; you might as well. If it's not... 1 is worth spending a few quid for; 2 isn't.

Put a smile on my face for hours.
Just as entertaining as the first one. The cast seem to be having a great time and have brought a real bickering family feel to the movie. The soundtrack is brilliantly inappropriate at times. The well written script contains lots of knowing references both to other Marvel characters and to other genre films. The best thing of all though was baby Groot. His dancing in the opening fight sequence put a smile on my face that did not come off even when the film ended. The animators absolutely captured the movement and personality of a toddler anybody watching who has young children or grandchildren will know exactly what I mean. Some of Marvels recent offerings have not quite hit the mark but this is a real return to form.

Grootiful!
Not quite as good as the first film, but still hugely enjoyable. It's one of those films that is just pure entertainment, no need to analyse too deeply, just sit back, relax and go with the flow. The storytelling did felt a little stretched at times and overwhelmed by the stunning special effects. But the character development continues to be fun, with some great one-liners and team chemistry. The characters have grown into a family of sorts, with some great dysfunctional banter. I loved the retro soundtrack, especially the ELO and Cat Stevens segments which bookend the film wonderfully. But the real star of the film is undoubtedly Baby Groot, who is adorable and steals every scene he's in. I never expected I'd feel so protective or moist-eyed about a tiny CGI root vegetable, but that's how well they wove him into the story. The little sproutling has become a protective focus of the whole team and right from the start he has the audience in the palm of his tiny hands, all [g]rooting for him.
