Hello, we are showing around 50-70 decibels for low to high for Austin Air. Low is similar to a white noise, refrigerator, or moderate rainfall. High is similar to a driving in traffic or a dishwasher. 50 dB(A)@48 cfm on low, 55 dB(A)@180 cfm, and around 66 dB(a)@400 cfm on high. Since high is frequently too loud for many clients with any traditional air purifier, we often recommend running a unit on high only during the time of a new contaminant or for a few hours when you first use a unit. How long does the filter last?

Depends on how dirty your air is - if you are smoking, or very have very dusty air, cooking odors - it won't last as long. Otherwise, 3-5 years - You do have to take out the foam filter surrounding the inside now and then and shake it out or rinse it. They said you can tell when the big filter needs changing by the air coming out of the machine not smelling good or if you notice odors staying in the air longer than before. I got it mainly to help with my allergies and breathing problems also for any bacteria and viruses. It does filter out 300 different particulates. I use mine 24/7 and it is still doing great almost 2 years later.

Can the wheels be easily detached (so I can place it in a precarious position on a flat base)?

The unit does not have wheels, it has small feet. They cannot be detached but they are rubber-like so they should "stick" to the surface. Hope this helps!

Love this product! Not only does it filter out dust, toxins and foul smells it works as a noise filter. It creates white noise that eliminates the sound of drag car racers at night. I can’t sleep without it and my house always smells fresh.

Love this! I baught 2. One for my bedroom and one for my living room. They are really helping with the new furniture off gassing. I still had to get rid of my bed frame because it was MDF and pressboard and my face was right by the headboard all night. The filter could not filter the air between the head board and my face between each inhale. Although, a fan might have helped if I could have tolerated the wind on my face. Regardless, this filter is great for the MDF electric fireplace (since I don't put my face against that one), new sofa, new area rug , and new accent chairs (all in the living room), oh and new kitchen table and chairs and my new to me used MDF and pressboard desk located in my bedroom. Suggestion: Don't sell everything and start over. Just beg you mom for all of your grandmothers furnature (live and learn). But, these filters are a life saver! On high they are a bit loud. So after the initial air clearing phase, we now turn them down when we are in the room. We turn them on high when we are not using the room (eg living room when sleeping and bedroom when awake) and every time we leave the house. (FYI, before all of this new Furnature, I did not know about chemical sensativity. So, you might be more sensative than I. Still these are great for the appropriately sized room.)

I have really been struggling in my remodeled house with vocs. This IS the answer you are looking for if you are having a similar situation. It is life changing for those of us who are sensitive to vocs. Buy it! Buy it now!! HEPA filters alone will do nothing for vocs. Solid construction. Arrived on time. I just bought my second one. Will likely buy 3 total as I have a large house. Psychologically not suffering anymore is AMAZING! I named my first one Steve…. Big price, way bigger value!!
