I got this to prevent muscle breakdown during a long hitch. I work long hours , then get off work and goto the gym. This helped keep the weight on. Usually I shrink up when I'm working hard.

My research on HMB concluded that HMB has shown the ability to reduce muscle catabolism in endurance athletes but does not show strong evidence of muscle hypertrophy in strength training. Basically stating it may be good to prevent muscle loss when cutting but not great at growing muscles. Also, some indications that the free acid form may be better (not this brand) are inconclusive also I believe that formula is proprietary (MuscleTech). It also appears that supplementing with BCAA'S when done appropriately is just as effective as supplementing with HMB as HMB is found in leucine. This product is a quality product for a fair price have used it before just know what to expect before you buy.
