Excellent product

I have been in the supplement business for many years and I have to start this review by stating that there is much more to heart issues and clogging of the arteries than cholesterol. In fact, the body needs a certain amount of cholesterol to heal the arterial wall.The liver produces around 70% of all the cholesterol in the bloodstream. So having cholesterol is important. Far too many doctors are trained in a way that they think all cholesterol is bad and must be lowered. LDL cholesterol is not good and if you have this form of cholesterol, then it needs to be addressed very quickly. The best way to do this is via diet. The bigger killer is sugar, carbs and veg oils. If we move away from sugar, carbohydrates and veg oils, increase the garlic (2400mg) in our diets, and omega 3 from cod liver/flax (3000mg) if vegan, in many cases our cholesterol would correct itself.In saying all of this, this product is good. In fact, it is far better than statins, which can have some very nasty side effects. The product contains Lecithin, Chromium, Flax Seed Oil, Garlic Extract and Apple Pectin, Plant Sterols which are all products that will help lower LDL cholesterol. All the ingredients have a known effect on LDL. My only argument is that the doses of things like garlic, vitamin E etc are in very low doses. To get E to work for the artery, you need around 1,200mg a day. It is a high dose, but if you look at the more serious studies they are very clear on the dose. Garlic should be around 2400mg a day.So this is a great product in principle, but some of the active ingredients are in such low doses I am not sure if they will be of that much benefit f you have severe cholesterol LDL issues.

Not what I really expected information was as I expected

As many other over 50s I guess it was inevitable that I'd be told that my cholesterol is "higher than we'd like it to be" by the GP, and to "try to cut out saturated fats, we'll see you in 6 months"...So, cutting out saturated fats is easier than I thought, and I feel better for it... but everything surely helps, so I've been taking these tablets for about a month now and hopefully see some results.At £17.99 (at the time of review) for a 3 month supply (90 tablets, one a day) they are not too bad value if they live up to the claims... certainly better than taking prescribed meds!I hope I am offering sensible advice by saying this, but with these tablets combined with a better diet, you're doing as much as you can to help get the bad cholesterol sorted - so I'm going to be hopeful these are working. There is certainly no perceivable disadvantage so far, so let's hope my next routine test gives me validation!
