I have a fit bit charge 2 that I received as a gift and these bands fit that.

Q: Does the strap retainer have the little nub that goes into one of the holes on the strap?

yes it does but it is not very big. It didn't last very long before it wasn't doing its job. I ordered another one that has a light elastic type band so so good.

Q: What kind of metal is the buckle?

The metal is coated so I don't know what is underneath. The "coat" is very hard and durable - like a hard paint. These replacements fit perfectly and I wear them on my Fit Bit every day; even during exercise. So far they have held up very well. I am allergic to nickel and anything that is not at least 10k gold. I have not had any allergic reaction while wearing it. I hope this answer helps.
