Utterly Brilliant. Buy this with confidence!
I was replacing a previous driveway alert, which after many years of good service no longer worked because the PIRs were defunct. Of the replacement devices the Guardline system looked to be the best in terms of features and reliability but then I spotted this system. The fact that all the reviews were positive actually made me suspicious. However, the price was so very reasonable and if it was rubbish it would go straight back! There is a reason this is getting good reviews. It works really well and is inexpensive.First good point, batteries are included. The build quality is excellent. There are some design decisions that show this is a well thought out product. For instance, the mounting screws are stainless steel - ideal for outdoor use. The mounting bracket has a brass insert, which again will mean that corrosion will not be a problem and all mounting hardware is provided. Being really really really picky the wall plugs could be better and the included screwdriver should be a crosshead. The receiver plugs straight into a standard outlet and is sized so that it will not obstruct the other outlet in a 2-gang socket or the switches, so no power adaptor and cables. This is REALLY well designed. The instructions are clear and accurate. Setting up the alarm is simplicity itself. Choose a tone (more about these later), hold the volume button for a few seconds, activate the PIR and pairing is complete. There are 52 alarm tones to choose from. In reality, I could only tolerate about 10 of them but if you don't mind musical chimes then there are plenty to choose from and the sound quality is pretty good, you also get a visual alert (in time to the music!). There are four levels of volume control that should suit most people in all but the noisiest environments. Two rooms away, I could still hear the alert above the sound of a boiling kettle.Well-designed, easy to set up but how does it perform? With thick walls and vegetation between the receiver and the transmitter I did not expect to get anywhere near the stated range of 150m. The fact I got half this was a pleasant surprise indeed! This kit has doubled the detection range of my previous system for less than half the price! I do get a very few false alarms caused by birds and squirrels because the main sensor is set low to pick up the heat from vehicle exhausts so this is to be expected. Gales with gusts of more than 70mph produced only a few false alarms from moving vegetation. More importantly the Mydome has registered every vehicle and person entering the property to date. This product really deserves its Amazon Choice rating.

Peace of mind!
Purchased these for added peace of mind and protection to the property following nuisance reports in immediate area. I can confirm that they are fab!Strategically placed and ‘hidden’ from plain sight, they alert me to anyone coming up the drive or near the back door. The alert can be very loud, medium or muted if wanted ie) you’ve a lot of company. You have the choice. My only issue with these is that they take a good several seconds, 10 more like to ‘reset’ themselves. Allow me to explain- if two people walked past the sensor, it wouldn’t alert you twice. Even if one was several steps behind. It takes a little while to readjust again. So if someone past, it wouldn’t alert you if they done a 180 and went back again unless it was around 15seconds after.Howeverrrr.. in conjunction with cameras and sensor lighting, all in all, added protection and peace of mind.Brown in colour and sensor turns red when acknowledging motion. Large selection of tunes to choose from. I would recommend these for anyone.

Lots of false triggers
UPDATED:I have to say after weeks of trying to get this to work usefully - I have failed.Lots of false alarms but worse still - lots of times a van or car drives past and it doesn't trigger or it doesn't register. So for pigeon spotting it is great. Or a pedestrian seems pretty good, but how a van can go past it on the same drive and it doesn't trigger I don't understand.Dropped to 1 star - I have to find something else.ORIGINAL:This product looks OK, but that is the best I can say about it.I am not sure how waterproof it is as the little silicon seals for the screws are so loose they just sit in the hole but they won't survive a strong wind. I had to reposition the sensor and all fell out immediately and 3 were lost in the grass. You must position it so that cats, foxes, rabbits don't get close. They trigger it - which is annoying in the middle of the night. If you just want a daytime courtesy warning someone is coming to the house then maybe put it on a timer. However during the day, birds trigger it. So this is not really just not that useful in a rural or countryside environment.I had an old wireless door bell - they share the same electronics so I can use the bell box for both doorbell and driveway alert - which was a nice bonus. Finally - the signal gets blocked by a wooden post or by putting it on the far side of a tree. I had to reposition to get that signal back to the house. I've had another intercom/doorbell (not the compatible one mentioned above) that could send a signal more than twice as far as this one can reliably send. However that broke after 6 months! What can you do!Bottom line, it is expensive for what it can do and how well (poorly) it does it. Minimal value for me, but maybe if you have a very controlled environment it could be OK.
