The A1228 is the softest of the Wilson Soft Compression baseballs with Level 5 softness, making it 85% softer than a traditional baseball. This makes it the perfect baseball for recreational youth as well as for younger players just starting to play the game. Cover Construction- Ultra Grip.

High quality and affordable. GREAT BASEBALL!
Great quality. Lots of life left on these balls after years of abuse. Just bought another dozen from Amazon. We've bought a bucket of Rawlings cheaper balls and a bucket of Champro balls. The Wilson 1010S is a far superior ball. The cover is more durable, no cuts after a year of abuse. The other 2 brands get cuts in their synthetic cover. The seams are raised on the Wilson balls to make for easier grip on fielding and pitching. The cover feels great in your hand also, not slick at all on wet days. The other 2 brands are smooth with no raised seams and slip right out of our hands when even slightly damp. The Rawlings and Champro balls have taken a beating from me during fielding practice and they have become lopsided and softened from me hitting to the kids. The Wilson have been hit just as hard but hold true and still fly as far as year after ago. They look better and could last a few more years to come. We are outside hitting and pitching 3-4 days a week from spring thru fall and have never had a tear, cut or even a loose seam from the Wilson brand. Can't say the same for the other 2 brands. They tear, soften and lose shape after a few hard hits...For about $4 a ball for either brand, the Wilson is far and away the better deal. These were marked as 'blemished' but they all looked pristine. Zero issues with them. The boys love hitting these because of the sound (and because they go farther!). They have a great sound off the bat compared to the dull thud of the other brands.Great product and we'll be buying more as we do tend to lose a few each year. (They don't do so well after being hit by a lawn mower. Just FYI)You can see in the pictures last year's ball next to this year's. The color has worn from use but still a great ball. The other 2 brands are just cheap covers and don't hold up...

Excellent value
These are made with top quality materials. The blemishes I see are mostly slightly off labeling. Definitely worth purchasing over other options. Diamond DLL has a better feel out of the box. Better grip. But it isn’t as durable as this leather. And the A1010S smells like pure leather. The DLL has an altered smell. Likely whatever they apply for the grip. Both are excellent options, though, especially if you price shop. That’s the combination we use. But you absolutely cannot beat this quality at any price. Grade A leather, actual wool, and excellent cork are tops. Blems just get you those materials at half the price. And once broken in they feel amazing. And last much longer.

What I wanted but not a deal
These baseballs were exactly what I wanted, the same balls used for high school that he could practice pitching with. These are priced at a normal retail price, no deal here. If you shop at Amazon to get a great price you are at the wrong place. Most items are at normal retail price or much higher. There are some deals but they are few and far between.

Quality and Price that you can live with
Of the 12 balls we received, approximately half had a very minor imperfection that you would never notice unless you examine the ball closely. These are perfect for batting practice or for pitching and could certainly be used in a game. Real quality baseballs are expensive and these are very close to perfect at a very reasonable price, I highly recommend.

Excellent product for training and safety!
I have coached three seasons of junior high and 10u baseball using these baseballs during practice. Errant throws during warm ups, or throws when the other player is not looking can be dangerous; these baseballs are great insurance against injury. A few of the players have been struck in similar situations and none were injured in any way. Using these baseballs as a coach is also a great idea to protect yourself and your assistant coaches! While being much safer than regular baseballs, these also emulate regular play. None of my teams had any problem adjusting to a standard baseballs during games. The slightly softer feel gives the players who are a little scared of the ball more confidence to go all out during practice. These baseballs also last a long time (at least 2 years so far) and can be hit and thrown over and over without coming apart.

Very Durable, Have Yet to Notice Blemishes
I have bought several dozen of these so far. They have been great for practice. I am working with younger kids and the grip is perfect for them. I haven’t used them in a pitching machine yet, so I can’t speak to that aspect. However, they are more durable than most I have used in the past, maybe not quite as good as Rawlings, but for the price I love them. As for blemishes, I haven’t noticed any yet after 7 dozen (perhaps maybe coloring, but that hasn’t affected anything).

Great balls, received an opened box
I bought a few dozen of the A1228 balls. These look to be quality baseballs. They are level 5 baseballs with a softer core. Perfect practice balls for my 6 year olds baseball team.My only complaint is with packaging/delivery and not the balls themselves. One of the packages that I received was already open and a couple of the balls were scruffed up. You can tell that they were hit a couple times put back in the box and returned. Quality control should have caught this before sending the box out again.

Sets the Standard
This ball sets the standard for durability amongst compression baseballs. I have tried several other brands and most of them split (either the cover or seams) relatively quickly, especially after play in damp conditions, but not these. I use these balls to throw game speed (or quicker) fastballs and ground balls to my 11 year old and since these are a bit softer than regulation balls his fear factor is significantly reduced (leading to more reps and increased confidence when he also practices with a regulation ball). These are not overly spongy like a Level 1 compression baseball, so the play characteristics are still reasonably true. Spend a little more for the Wilson compression baseballs--it will pay off in the long run!

Great baseball
Great baseball with a softer compression that normal baseballs, my 7yo son prefers this as it feels less painful when hit like other baseballs. We have bought 2, well made. 100% recommend

Un bel soprammobile
Non l'ho comprata per giocare, ma per esporla nella mia vetrinetta. Anche se finta pelle ottima al tatto, e poi è una Wilson... consigliata.
