Great game for dice chucking
The characters and their powers feel different and appropriate here, playing as Thor is vastly different to Loki. Thematically the characters feel great. The game here is very random, it's a dice game with a lot of luck. That means some turns you'll feel very powerful and others you'll strike out, there is very little strategy you can use if you just roll poorly. The game is short and punchy enough though that this isn't an issue, a 2 player game will take about 30 mins and the desire to reset and go again is always there. The components are great, the trays make storage and set up a breeze, the character sheets break down character abilities really well and the rule book explains the turn structure and timing and key word clarifications well. My only negative would be in how complicated the different types of damage, timings, powers, when you can activate them or remove them and the different turn phases themselves. It's alot, for a game that at it's heart us Yahtzee you have a lot of little things to remember and will be checking the rulebook alot while you get the hang of the system and turns and what each keyword means.

I heard about Dice Throne late (not until 2023). I’m one of those “aspiring” board/card game people. I like the idea of getting into games, but don’t have the time (or local friends, or desire to meet people at a game shop) to play them and discover new ones. I think I saw this while walking around the Mall of America, but decided not to buy it. Mostly so I didn’t have to lug it around for the rest of the day of shopping. After I saw a few videos of it being played, I had to order it. It looked simple, fun, yet strategic. Like PVP Yahtzee! I’ve had fun the two matches I’ve been able to get my friends to play so far. The build quality is very good. These boards feel like they’ll last forever. The cards feel standard, not cheap. Dice aren’t special but they work and feel good. Tokens are cardboard punch-outs that feel sturdy. Package design is A+ as each character gets their own tray. Trays are plastic, but the black base is very strong and the clear cover isn’t flimsy. The boards fold up so that cool art of each character is displayed without opening the tray. Under the board, there is room for the character’s cards, dice and character-specific tokens. My only gripe would be that there’s sometimes not quite enough space to pack everything under the board. After getting this Marvel set, I’m already planning to get both Season 1 &2 Battle Chests.

This is a great set of 4 characters. They each play really uniquely, but are well balanced. Loki is especially fun to play with his bag of tricks and never underestimate the power of Thor's hammer. Dice throne is a great game that is easy to learn. You can adjust play time by starting with higher or lower health. Our family finds around 35 to be perfect for our 2-3 player games.

I own all three sets of Marvel Dice Throne, and I picked them up when they were on sale. Simply put, this game is dice-rolling fun at its finest. Who doesn't love throwing five dice at once? If you're looking for a fast-paced, accessible game with satisfying decisions and a great Marvel theme, this is it. Each match feels different thanks to the luck of the roll and the variety in your card draws. The real strategy lies in how you make the most of the resources you have—the dice results and cards in your hand. Combine that with seamless cross-compatibility across all characters and sets, and you’ve got a game with huge replayability. The components are excellent for the price point: - Thick boards and quality tokens - Satisfyingly weighty dice - Beautiful artwork that really captures the Marvel flair *While the retail dice don’t have the special textures from the Kickstarter editions, they still look and feel great. One of the best things about this game is the insanely fast setup. Each character comes in its own tray, so you just pick your hero and you're ready to go in under a minute. That, paired with the relatively low mental load during gameplay, makes Marvel Dice Throne perfect for weeknight gaming sessions. Choosing a Set? Here’s My Take: 1. Captain Marvel & Black Panther - Ideal for beginners - Low difficulty, straightforward abilities - Great for enjoying the dice-chucking experience without getting overwhelmed 2. Scarlet Witch, Thor, Loki, Spider-Man - Best value with 4 characters in one box - More variety in playstyles - Thor is a fan favorite in competitive circles 3. Black Widow & Doctor Strange - Suited for experienced players - Black Widow has lots of upgrades and tactical choices - Doctor Strange introduces a unique spell mechanic with deeper strategy Despite the different difficulty ratings, all characters are approachable for novices—they just take time to master. And once you do? Pulling off big combos is incredibly satisfying. With more expansions on the way, the replayability just keeps growing. Whether you're a Marvel fan, a dice game enthusiast, or just want a fun, fast game to play with friends or family, Marvel Dice Throne is an easy recommendation.
