Each sponge has different size holes. One sponge has smaller holes, one has bigger, and the other sponge is dual sided (has holes and like the spikes with holes)

Q: how durable is this because most of the sponges I use tear after awhile. But the might be because of the way I use it

These to me are no different than most of them. Pretty durable, but realistically might need replacement after a few years depending on frequency of use. But you get 3, so that's what makes this a good deal.
