GYOKUCHORazorsaw Dovetail Saw 240mm No. 311 with Replaceable Blade

I have another gyokucho dozuki saw, the #300, and this #311 is quite a bit better for the rip part of dovetails. I would assume that naming it "Sun Child" in the catalog might be another way of saying that this is a beautiful saw. Of course, it looks the same as the other, but the hybrid rip/crosscut teeth work very well. Its pretty fine toothed at 19.5 tpi, so don't expect it to saw all that fast, but its much better than the #300. The #272 is also supposed to be a rip cut dozuki. I have that on order and we'll see how it compares to the #311. I will note also that in their catalog, under "use/feature" it mentions "accurate dovetail cut" as the first attribute for the #311 and #303, where as in the descriptions of other saws, it is only mentioned as the last "use/feature", if at all. Of all of the typical saws, only the #311, #303, #111, #372, #295 have a use of "accurate dovetail cut".The saw starts very nicely on the end grain, and if you have aimed it well, it will cut straight. I have been practicing with it, and sometimes attempting to correct the direction of the cut. This can be done, but only to a minor degree, such as perhaps .25 mmIn the photo, you can see some practice cuts. The idea is to cut just as close to the line as you can, on both sides. Looking closely, you can see a few instances where I changed direction slightly. I would say that you can move about 1/2 the width of the kerf one way or the other. Someday, I will learn to stop before the bottom line, but that was not the focus of these practice cuts.

Permette raggiungere la perfezione in quelle incastri a coda di rondine mai fatti con successo nel passato. Da essere usato solamente per lavori raffinati, anche se l'acciaio è de una qualità insuperabile.
